Out with shoulder inflammation Hill landed on the 10-day injured list Saturday due to shoulder inflammation, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Impact Hill has struggled to start the season, striking out just one batter in 5.2 innings while giving up seven runs on 11 hits. He'll now miss potentially an extended period, though the team hasn't specified exactly when he's expected back. Ray Kerr was recalled to give the Padres another lefty in the bullpen in Hill's absence.

Impact For the second straight game, Hill was brought into the contest after a Padres starter held Arizona scoreless. In both instances, the southpaw coughed up the combined no-hitter by yielding a single to the first batter he faced. Further, Hill ended both outings having surrendered a pair of hits but has yet to be charged with any runs. As one of only two left-handers currently in San Diego's bullpen (closer Taylor Rogers is the other), Hill figures to see plenty of action again this season after getting into a career-high 78 contests in 2021.

Returning to Padres Hill signed a one-year, $1.325 million contract with the Padres on Tuesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Impact The 31-year-old will return to the Padres for a third consecutive season after pitching in 78 games with the squad in 2021. He tossed 59.2 innings while compiling a 3.62 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and striking out 56 batters. Hill's 17 holds were the second-highest on the team and he will remain a set-up option for the Padres next season.
