Impact Though he sat out Saturday's 8-3 win while lefty Logan Allen took the hill for Cleveland, the lefty-hitting Kiermaier finds himself on the bench for the series finale versus a right-handed starting pitcher (Noah Syndergaard). The Blue Jays haven't indicated that Kiermaier is dealing with a new injury, so he could just be getting some extra maintenance after he returned just over a week ago from a stint on the injured list due to a right elbow laceration.

Impact Merrifield will join fellow veteran Kevin Kiermaier on the bench for the day game, opening up spots at second base and in the outfield for Cavan Biggio and Davis Schneider, respectively. The Blue Jays called up right-hander Jay Jackson from Triple-A Buffalo to take over the active roster spot of Swanson, who had picked up three wins, four saves and 28 holds to go with a 3.10 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 67:19 K:BB across 58 innings this season.
