Stephen Strasburg - Gets back on mound Strasburg (neck) felt good after a 32-pitch bullpen session Monday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Impact Strasburg had been briefly shut down from mound work after some discomfort following a simulated game, but the setback evidently wasn't a major one. Given his lengthy injury history, particularly in the last two years, it's tough to be too confident in his health, but he at least appears to be moving in the right direction again.

Andres Machado - Sent to Triple-A The Nationals optioned Machado to Triple-A Rochester on Monday.
Impact Machado was sent to the minors over outfielder Andrew Stevenson, who sticks with the big club after Washington reduced its active roster to 26 men following Sunday's pseudo-doubleheader with San Diego. Following his July 11 call-up from Triple-A, Machado appeared in two games out of the bullpen and gave up three earned runs over 1.2 innings.

Impact After serving as the Nationals' 27th man for Sunday's pseudo-doubleheader with the Padres, Stevenson was optioned back to Rochester earlier Monday to bring Washington's roster back to 26. The Nationals ultimately reserved the transaction and optioned reliever Andres Machado instead of Stevenson, a move that perhaps hints that center fielder Victor Robles isn't completely healthy. Robles will be out of the lineup for a second straight game Monday, allowing Stevenson to pick up another start after he went 1-for-2 with a stolen base in Sunday's 8-7 win.

Impact Robles was withheld from the lineup in Sunday's 8-7 win over the Padres in what was believed to be a maintenance day, but his second straight absence from the starting nine suggests he could be tending to an injury. The 24-year-old entered Sunday's contest as a pinch hitter and was hit by a pitch, so it's possible that he's dealing with some residual soreness. Andrew Stevenson will pick up another start in center field in Robles' stead.

Impact Scherzer was dominant in June and during his first outing in July and posted a 1.44 ERA and 0.92 WHIP in 25 innings across five starts during that time.
