Vladimir Gutierrez - Avoids worst-case outcomeGutierrez will be shut down for two weeks with a first-degree UCL strain but has avoided a more serious injury, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ImpactGutierrez hit the injured list Sunday with what was originally called right forearm soreness. Any time a UCL is involved, things seldom look particularly good, but it at least seems as though Tommy John surgery is off the table at this time. Given that he won't be throwing for two weeks, however, it will be quite a while before he's back in action at the big-league level.

Jonathan India - Beginning rehab assignment TuesdayIndia (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ImpactIndia underwent an MRI on Monday and apparently received encouraging results, as he's been cleared to return to game action with the Triple-A club. The 25-year-old hasn't played since April 30, so he'll require several rehab games before he's reinstated from the 10-day injured list. However, the Reds are hopeful that India will rejoin the major-league club in time for the team's upcoming homestead against the Brewers, which begins June 17, per C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic. He should reclaim his role as the Reds' everyday second baseman once he's activated since he slashed .295/.311/.341 with two doubles, five runs and three RBI over 11 major-league games prior to his absence.

Matt Reynolds - Sitting out MondayReynolds is not in the starting lineup for Monday's contest versus the Diamondbacks.
ImpactReynolds will take a seat after starting six straight games, going 7-for-20 with a solo home run, two runs and a stolen base in those contests. Alejo Lopez is starting at second base and batting eighth in Monday's series opener.

T.J. Friedl - Recalled from minorsFriedl was recalled from Triple-A Louisville on Monday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
ImpactFriedl has bounced on and off the roster throughout the season, as this will be his fourth separate stint with the big-league squad already this year. He's done very little with his sporadic opportunities, hitting .179/.237/.254 in 20 games, though he does have four steals. He doesn't seem to have a path to regular at-bats this time around, either, as it was infielder Mike Moustakas (undisclosed) who hit the injured list in a corresponding move.

Mike Moustakas - Placed on ILThe Reds placed Moustakas on the injured list Monday without a designation, implying that his absence is COVID-19-related.
ImpactIt's unclear whether Moustakas tested positive for the virus or was placed on the IL as a precaution, but he'll be unable to join the Reds until he's deemed asymptomatic. TJ Friedl was recalled from Triple-A Louisville to fill Moustakas' spot on the roster.

Víctor Arano - Placed on 15-day ILArano was placed on the 15-day injured list Monday with left knee inflammation.
ImpactArano left Sunday's contest early after taking a spill trying to field a ground ball. He will now be away from the team for at least 15 days as he nurses the injury. Dee Strange-Gordon was activated off the paternity list Monday, filling Arano's roster spot, but the Nationals will likely look to call up an arm from Triple-A Rochester in the coming days.
