Bowman had apparently raced his way into the next round of the playoffs but his car came in underweight during post-race inspection. The suspicion is that when Bowman hit some of the curbing hard on the Roval Sunday that he may have dislodged and lost a ballast weight from the car. The penalty drops Bowman from the Round of 8 field and instead advances Joey Logano into the next round of the NASCAR playoffs.
