Runner-up Finish at Martinsville Elliott finished second in the Xfinity 500 NASCAR Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday afternoon. Impact The Hendrick Motorsports star started on the outside pole and would be a force all afternoon at the Virginia short track. Elliott would lead 129 laps and battle mostly with Brad Keselowski for much of the event. However, as victory seemed to be within reach, Elliott would see Ryan Blaney charge past in the closing laps. The driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet would slip to second-place and ride there to the checkered flag. Despite racking up his 11th Top 5 of the season, Elliott would be eliminated from the playoffs.
