Third at Iowa Speedway Elliott finished third in the Iowa Corn 350 NASCAR Cup Series race at Iowa Speedway Sunday night.
Impact The driver of the No. 9 Chevrolet stared inside and raced inside the Top 10 all evening in his 350-lap battle. Elliott would collect a ninth-place finish to end stage 1 and he'd work up to third-place by the end of stage 2. That good track position would pay off late as Elliott held Christopher Bell at bay in the closing laps to secure the impressive third-place finish. It was his series-leading seventh Top 5 of the season.

Impact The Hendrick Motorsports star once again had a strong outing at Sonoma Raceway, but it fell short of a first-career victory at the track. Elliott led just 3 laps but he'd maintain a presence among the leaders all afternoon. In the closing lap he'd promote one spot when Martin Truex Jr. ran out of gas, but would also hold off Ross Chastain to secure a strong fourth-place finish. Impact Elliott had a front row seat for the closest finish in NASCAR history (0.001 seconds) as teammate Kyle Larson barely edged out Chris Buescher for the win. Elliott had to think for a moment he might have a chance at his second win of 2024 when the front two drivers were way up the track in the final turn. Elliott was coming with a head of steam, but he also had Martin Truex Jr. on his outside coming off of turn four. Elliott was able to edge Truex back to the line and earn his fifth top-five finish in the last six races. Elliott has not been dominating races as he has done in seasons prior, but that team knows how to be there at the end of races and give themselves a chance. Darlington is up next and the No. 9 team always seems to have good pace there.
