Fifth-Place at Talladega Hamlin finished fifth in the YellaWood 500 NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway Sunday afternoon. Impact The Joe Gibbs Racing star pulled out one of his superspeedway performances of old Sunday in the YellaWood 500. Hamlin started third on the grid, led 20 laps and raced to a runner-up finish in stage 1. He would avoid the six caution flags for multiple incidents and survive to contend for the win at the end. Hamlin would lose the lead for the final time on lap 162 and would hold off Erik Jones to finish fifth-place. It was his eighth Top 5 of the season.
