Joining Spire Motorsports Spire Motorsports announced on Tuesday that Dillon would pilot their No. 77 car full-time in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2023. Impact Dillon returned to the Cup Series full-time this season with Petty GMS, but has struggled to keep pace with teammate Erik Jones. As a result, Petty GMS elected to replace him in the No. 42 car with a rising superstar in Noah Gragson. Dillon fielded multiple offers for a ride in 2023 across all three series, but ultimately he wanted to stay in the Cup Series and Spire seemed to be the best fit for him all along. Corey Lajoe will remain in the No. 7 car, which showed a performance pickup at times this season, most notably at the summer Atlanta race where he nearly scored a victory. The No. 77 car did not have the same speed this season, but also has been a revolving door of drivers. 2023 will be Dillon's sixth season of full-time Cup racing and has yet to finish better than 24th in the standings.
