Hit with 25-point penalty Byron has been fined $50,000 and penalized 25 driver and owner points after spinning out Denny Hamlin under caution during last Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speed... Impact Byron was upset with how Hamlin raced him off of turn two in the final stage while the two were racing for the second position. Byron ended up touching the wall and damaging his car. After the next caution was triggered, Byron rolled up to Hamlin and punted him into the infield grass. NASCAR claimed they somehow did not see the contact, which is why no action was given during the race. It hurt Hamlin who pretty much lost his chance at the victory, but both drivers were able to score top-10 finishes. Nevertheless, this 25-point penalty will move Byron from 17 points above the cutoff line to eight points below the cutoff for the Round of 8. He will look to put it behind him and have a strong run at Talladega this weekend.
