Impact Garland lit up the struggling Pacers for a career-high 41 points on extremely efficient shooting. Plus, it was his sixth performance of the season with double-digit assists and at least two steals. With Jarrett Allen (finger) out indefinitely, Garland may have to take on even more of an offensive burden than usual going forward.

Impact Garland was Cleveland's best player by a wide margin and registered a career-best mark in dimes, though that shouldn't be surprising considering he's riding the best season of his career. The star point guard has now scored at least 25 points in each of his last five appearances.

Impact Though the reeling Cavaliers found themselves on the wrong end of a blowout, Garland's productive return was a welcome sight after the lingering back injury kept him out of eight of the team's previous 11 contests. While the back issue could be troublesome off and on for the remainder of the season, Garland is expected to continue playing a normal allotment of minutes when he's available. Even though his appearances have been spotty in recent weeks, Garland has been excellent when he's suited up, averaging 29.3 points (on 58.5 percent shooting from the field), 4.8 assists, 3.8 treys, 3.5 rebounds and 0.8 steals in 33.3 minutes across his last four outings.

Ramping up, viewed as day-to-day Cavaliers head coach J.B. Bickerstaff said Monday that Garland (back) is "starting to ramp back up" and is considered day-to-day, Kelsey Russo of The Athletic reports.

Impact New Cavaliers general manager Mike Gansey more or less echoed Bickerstaff's comments about the young point guard, describing Garland's back issue as being akin to a bone bruise, in so that it's "a day-to-day thing" and "nothing long-term." While Gansey's words offer some reassurance that Garland will avoid an extended absence, the Cavaliers have yet to outline a clear timeline for his return. Garland has now missed eight of the Cavs' last 11 games on account of low-back soreness, an injury he initially picked up Jan. 9 against the Warriors. Though Gansey noted that the Cavaliers held internal conversations about holding Garland out of All-Star weekend festivities, the 21-year-old was eventually allowed to participate, but he experienced renewed soreness upon returning to Cleveland for practice last week. Garland was seen putting up shots during the Cavaliers' morning shootaround Monday in addition to doing some light work on the side, but he'll likely remain out through at least Wednesday's game against the Hornets if he isn't able to practice fully Tuesday.
