Impact Garland is currently undergoing treatment and rehab for his sore lower back, so it's not a major surprise to see him ruled out after not playing Thursday against the Pistons. Rajon Rondo started at the point Thursday but will be sidelined Saturday with a toe injury, leaving Cleveland severely shorthanded in the backcourt.

Impact Garland recently sat out a stretch of five of the Cavaliers' six games from Jan. 31 through Feb. 11 with the back issue, but he looked to be in the clear after logging 35 minutes apiece in the team's final two contests before the All-Star break. The extended respite during the break doesn't appear to have resolved Garland's back problems, however, as he'll be back on the sideline as Cleveland opens its second-half schedule. Though Garland is technically day-to-day, the Cavaliers' vague update on his health doesn't inspire much confidence that he'll be ready to play Saturday versus Washington.
