Impact Jokic's wrist is reportedly still sore, but that won't prevent him from suiting up for a second consecutive contest to open 2022-23. While he wasn't quite as on top of the boards as usual against the Jazz in the opener Wednesday, Jokic didn't display any issues with his shooting touch despite the soreness, knocking down 12 of his 17 attempts from the field.

Jamal Murray - Out Friday Murray (knee) will not play in Friday's matchup with the Warriors due to left knee injury management, Kendra Andrews of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Murray missed the entire 2021-22 season due to an ACL tear, so the team will ease him back into the swing of things as the season progresses. Friday's absence is no surprise, as the team is playing the front end of a back-to-back set. Look for him to return to the lineup in Saturday's game against the Thunder. Impact Porter ended just three boards away from opening the season with a double-double, but aside from that, there's not much to highlight in a game where the Nuggets underperformed massively. Porter is expected to be a secondary scorer for the Nuggets as he shares the court with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, but his ability to contribute in other categories should still make him a viable fantasy option in most formats.

Impact This was Murray's first game since the 2020-21 season, so the rust is to be expected, particularly from the scoring perspective since he needed 13 shots to score just 12 points while failing to contribute significantly in other categories. However, this is unlikely to be a trend going forward, and the star point guard should only get better as the season progresses and as he gets more games under his belt.

Impact The reigning MVP looked as dominant as he's been over the last few seasons and while he showed efficiency as a scorer while also displaying his well-known ability to contribute across the board in other categories as well, that was not enough to carry Denver to victory in the season opener. Despite the loss, these kinds of performances shouldn't surprise anyone given how good he's been over the past two seasons, and in fact, it wouldn't be shocking if this is a low standard for his outputs to come.

Impact Gordon finished 2021-22 with just six total double-doubles, so this may not become a trend moving forward. However, it's at least a good start to his campaign and a sign that he will remain involved in the offense this season. Gordon attempted 17 or more shots just four times last season, so the shot volume in the opener is also an encouraging sign.

Impact There was buzz this preseason about Hyland's potential to be the sixth man for Denver, but that wasn't the case in the opener. He saw true bench minutes behind Jamal Murray and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Bruce Brown (21 minutes) saw the most time off the pine. Hyland is an early cut candidate for those in standard leagues who took a flier on him. When Murray misses time, Hyland should be fantasy-viable, but it's tough to hang onto him while waiting for that to happen.
