McDaniels had already been the beneficiary of Karl-Anthony Towns suffering a calf injury in late November that will likely keep him sidelined heading into the 2023 portion of the schedule, but Kyle Anderson's (illness) shorter-term absence has also aided McDaniels to some degree. While Anderson has been out the past four games, McDaniels has cleared 30 minutes each time out while averaging 14.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.5 three-pointers, 1.0 blocks and 0.8 steals.

Impact Gobert's production continues to vary on a night-to-night basis, but this was another disappointing performance from the big man, who did not record a single steal or block for the second straight game. Relative to last season, Gobert's numbers are down in virtually every key stat category -- most notably rebounds and blocks. He's down to just 12.1 boards per game (fewest since 2017-18) and a horrific 1.2 blocks (fewest since rookie season).

He's making the most of the absence of Karl-Anthony Towns (calf) and has scored in double digits in five of his last six games while clearing the 20-point mark three times in that stretch. Reid is averaging 14.3 points and 7.3 rebounds per game in December.

Impact Edwards was sloppy with the ball and committed at least three turnovers for the third game in a row, and his 16:15 assist-to-turnover ratio in that span isn't encouraging. Fortunately for him, the assists are just a part of his game, and most of his value comes from being the main scoring threat on the Timberwolves, a role that's even more noticeable when Karl-Anthony Towns (calf) is out. Edwards is averaging 24.4 points per game in December and has also reached the 20-point mark in five games in a row.
