Heading to Denver The Lakers traded Bryant to the Nuggets on Thursday in exchange for Davon Reed, a 2025 second-round pick and two 2029 second-round picks, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

Impact The 25-year-old saw extended run in the starting lineup earlier this year while Anthony Davis was unavailable, but Bryant saw his role decrease in recent games since Davis returned to the court and the Lakers acquired Rui Hachimura from the Wizards. Bryant would have had even more of an uphill battle for playing time after Jarred Vanderbilt was traded from the Jazz to the Lakers on Wednesday, but he'll now operate as the backup center in Denver behind Nikola Jokic. While Jokic tends to stay on the court more than Davis, Bryant should have an opportunity to carve out a fairly consistent role off the bench with the Nuggets.

Bryant has averaged 13.3 minutes when coming off the bench this season, so he'll likely have a much more limited role Tuesday.

Impact Discounting his poor free-throw percentage, Bryant delivered his best fantasy line since his eye-popping 31-point, 14-rebound outing Jan. 22 in Portland, but it comes with the caveat that Anthony Davis (foot) was sitting out for injury management purposes in the front end of a back-to-back set. The Lakers may continue to bring Davis off the bench in the likely event that he's cleared to play Tuesday against the Knicks, but Bryant will almost certainly be in store for a reduction in playing time even if he maintains a starting role. In Davis' two appearances last week upon returning from a long-term absence due to the foot injury, Bryant handled 21- and 19-minute workloads.

With Anthony Davis ramping up his activity, it is only a matter of time until Bryant is sent back to the bench, bringing to an end his run as a 12-team asset. For anyone still holding Bryant, it is time to move on and begin the search for the next waiver wire gem.

He became only the third Lakers player in the past 40 years to record 30 points and 14 rebounds while shooting at least 80 percent from the field, and the perfect showing from the free-throw line along with the unexpected production from three-point range made Bryant's performance even sweeter. Impact Bryant started the new year with four double-doubles across his first five games, but he's fallen off considerably since then. Over his subsequent four contests, the big man is averaging a modest 8.8 points and 5.5 boards while shooting 46.9 percent from the field. Part of the dropoff has to do with a decrease in playing time, as Bryant is averaging just 20.3 minutes in the four-game span compared to the 29.4 minutes he was averaging in his first 13 starts after Anthony Davis went down with a foot injury in mid-December. Bryant has remained in the starting lineup for now, but Wenyen Gabriel is getting more minutes and posting better production of late, averaging 13.0 points, 5.8 boards and 1.8 blocks across 26.8 minutes over Los Angeles' past four games.
