Lands on IR The Browns placed Walker (hamstring) on injured reserve Friday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Impact Walker suffered a hamstring injury during practice leading up to Week 2 and will be forced to miss at least three weeks after being placed on IR. The 26-year-old recorded nine tackles (eight solo) during Week 1 and will be hard to replace for the upcoming weeks. Malcolm Smith is the obvious candidate on the current roster to replace Walker, but Cleveland has also looked outside the organization as they worked out Reuben Foster on Friday per Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston.

Impact After signing a one-year, $3.5 million contract in March, Walker won the starting middle linebacker job and led the Browns in tackles during the season opener. Walker compiled 321 tackles and 11 pass breakups over the last three seasons with the Colts. He figures to be a steady IDP contributor as long as he maintains the starting gig.

Myles Garrett was held out due to a hamstring injury and Denzel Ward missed a third straight practice with an undisclosed injury, though he did wear a long sleeve on his right leg. Walker, who participated in individual drills but not team sessions, is expected to start at middle linebacker and will wear the green dot on his helmet as the defensive signal-caller. During this absence Jacob Phillips filled in.
