Impact Hill's explosive outing began on his very first play from scrimmage, as the 25-year-old collected a 26-yard catch-and-run to kick off his afternoon midway through the first quarter. He wasn't done there, however, adding a 62-yard scamper on an early fourth-quarter drive that helped momentarily reduced Atlanta's deficit to three points with 8:19 to go. The Falcons couldn't overcome Tampa Bay, ultimately, but HIll ends his fourth NFL season with the second-highest single-game rushing output of his career. Hill provided an excellent 4.7 yards-per-carry average over 100 attempts, while his 199 receiving yards are his most as a pro. Atlanta's running back situation remains an open book at this stage, with contracts set to expire over the offseason for both Hill and Todd Gurley.

Impact In 10 games this season, Hill has had double-digit carries twice and 10-plus touches one additional time. That said, he's averaging 4.3 yards per carry and gathered in 16 of his 20 targets. Meanwhile, Ito Smith has 20 touches all year, and Qadree Ollison is unlikely to play much, if at all, so Hill is the prime candidate to be Atlanta's lead back Sunday.

Impact Hill garnered fewer than half the number of carries as No. 1 back Todd Gurley in Week 9, but he enjoyed a steady dose of complementary usage throughout the contest, collecting multiple carries in the first, second and third quarters. He also drew a fourth-quarter target from Matt Ryan, but the pass fell incomplete. After collecting just 10 combined offensive touches in Atlanta's first two outings of 2020, the Wyoming product has seen his workload increase to an average of 8.9 touches per game over his past seven appearances. Hill remains securely fixed as Atlanta's No. 2 running back option with the Falcons heading into a Week 10 bye before traveling to New Orleans on Nov. 22.

Impact Whether the workload split between Todd Gurley and Hill on Thursday night is ultimately the first sign of a changing of the guard at running back for the Falcons remains to be seen. However, it's notable Hill logged a season-high number of rush attempts against Carolina and began to be worked in heavily on Atlanta's third drive early in the second quarter. Hill was easily the more efficient of the two backs as well, and the difference in his quickness and that of Gurley's is evident. Therefore, it will be interesting to monitor how the backfield touches are divided in a Week 9 home contest against the Broncos on Sunday, Nov. 8, with the ability of the Falcons defense to once again help the offense remain in a game script that's positive for the ground attack integral to the overall opportunities available.
