Justin Fields - Hurts left shoulder Fields said after Thursday's 12-7 loss to the Commanders that he re-aggravated an injury to his left (non-throwing) shoulder, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports.
Impact As the quarterback pointed out Thursday, the Bears' next game isn't until Oct. 24 against the Patriots, which will afford him some added healing time in Week 7. In any case, the signal-caller's status will be worth monitoring in the coming days, and he seems likely to be included on the Bears' injury report when the team resumes practicing next Thursday. Fields finished the Week 6 loss with 14 completions on 27 attempts for 190 yards, a touchdown and an interception while carrying 12 times for 88 yards.

Khalil Herbert - Splash play in TNF loss Herbert rushed seven times for 75 yards and did not draw a target during the Bears' 12-7 loss to the Commanders on Thursday night.
Impact A significant chunk of Herbert's production came on a 64-yard run in the Bears' first offensive play of the second quarter, one in which he got the ball down to the Commanders' six-yard line. However, Chicago would walk away empty-handed from that drive when Herbert was stopped twice for no gain inside the five-yard line, including on fourth down a yard shy of the end zone. Nevertheless, the 24-year-old now has three rushing tallies of at least 75 yards in the last four games, yet he seems destined to once again play a clear complementary role to David Montgomery in a Week 7 road matchup versus the Patriots on Monday night, Oct. 24.

David Montgomery - Solid night in loss Montgomery rushed 15 times for 67 yards and brought in his only target for 13 yards in the Bears' 12-7 loss to the Commanders on Thursday night. He also recovered a fumble.
Impact Montgomery was once again the clear lead back in the Bears' ground attack, although Khalil Herbert actually outgained him with 75 yards -- 64 of those coming on one run. Montgomery's contributions were much steadier, and the third-year back was appreciably more efficient than in his Week 5 return from an ankle injury (12 carries, 20 yards). He'll now have extra time to recover from a busy last four days, as Chicago won't return to action until a Week 7 Monday night road matchup against the Patriots on Oct. 24.

Impact Pettis made the Bears' only touchdown of the night memorable with a pretty over-the-shoulder 40-yard catch midway through the third quarter. The 26-year-old led the team in receiving yards as well while checking in second to Darnell Mooney in targets. Darnell Mooney - Comes up just short on final play Mooney secured seven of 12 targets for 68 yards in the Bears' 12-7 loss to the Commanders on Thursday night.
Impact The third-year speedster led the Bears in receptions and targets while checking in second in receiving yards, but his final catch of the night is what will draw the most attention. Mooney hauled in a pass from Justin Fields that initially hit him in the chest mid-air as his body crossed the plane of the goal line, but he bobbled it and didn't secure it until coming down about a half-yard short of the end zone. The fact the play unfolded on fourth down with 30 seconds remaining and the Bears down five naturally magnifies the failure to score in what was otherwise his best all-around performance following a forgettable start to the season. Mooney will aim to atone when the Bears visit the Patriots for a Week 7 Monday night showdown Oct. 24.

Impact Fields put together a third straight serviceable passing performance, but he also took five sacks and couldn't get the Bears into the end zone on either of the final two possessions. In fairness, he came just a yard short of doing so with 30 seconds remaining, but Darnell Mooney bobbled Fields' pass as it hit him in mid-air while crossing the plane of the goal line and he was ruled to only have gained control of it down about a half-yard short of the end zone. Earlier in the game, Fields connected with Dante Pettis on a picturesque, over-the-shoulder 40-yard touchdown pass midway through the third quarter, but he short-circuited an earlier scoring opportunity by throwing a pick on the Commanders' five-yard line late in the first quarter as well. Fields and his teammates will now have extra time to regroup ahead of a Week 7 Monday night road matchup against the Patriots on Oct. 24.
