2024 NFL Predictions: Who takes the AFC and NFC South titles this season?

Douglas Coleman III - Goes to injured reserve The Bears reverted Coleman (upper body) to IR on Wednesday, per the NFL's transaction log.

Impact Coleman was hurt in Chicago's preseason finale last Thursday and exited the field on a backboard. He was released from the hospital the following day and was waived/injured by the Bears on Saturday. Because he's cleared waivers, Coleman will miss the entire 2024 campaign unless he reaches an injury settlement with the team.

Patrick Scales - Starting season on IR The Bears placed Scales (back) on the reserve/injured list Thursday, Larry Mayer of the team's official site reports.

Impact The veteran long snapper sustained a back injury in early August, which kept him out of the Bears' last three preseason games. He'll be forced to sit for a minimum of four games, making Week 5 against the Panthers on Oct. 6 the earliest he can return.

Khari Blasingame - Joins Chicago's active roster The Bears signed Blasingame to their 53-man roster Thursday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Impact The 28-year-old fullback has joined Chicago's active roster after failing to make the team's initial 53-man roster Tuesday. Blasingame has spent each of the last two seasons with the Bears, appearing in 32 regular-season games and playing primarily on special teams (348 offensive snaps and 422 special-teams snaps).

Jacob Martin - Opening season on IR Martin (undisclosed) was placed on injured reserve by the Bears on Tuesday, Larry Mayer of the team's official website reports.

Impact Martin failed to log any stats in the preseason after signing with the Bears in March, suffering an undisclosed injury along the way at some point. The defensive lineman will now be forced to miss at least Chicago's first four games of the regular season before he'd be eligible to return Week 5 against the Panthers on Oct. 6.

Larry Borom - Placed on IR Borom (ankle) was placed on injured reserve by the Bears on Tuesday, Larry Mayer of the team's official website reports.

Impact Borom suffered an ankle injury in the Bears' preseason finale against the Chiefs on Thursday and he'll now be forced to miss at least the first four games of the regular season. The offensive tackle will be first eligible to return in Week 5 against the Panthers on Oct. 6.

Impact Poles suggested the problem had something to do with Allen's cleats. Whatever the case, it doesn't sound like the Bears are too concerned, but fantasy managers will still want to keep an eye out to make sure Allen returns to practice in the coming days. The 32-year-old is part of a hyper-talented WR room that also includes DJ Moore and ninth overall pick Rome Odunze.

Dante Pettis - Placed on IR The Bears placed Pettis (undisclosed) on injured reserve Tuesday.

Impact With no designation to return, the only way Pettis can play this season is if he reaches an injury settlement to be released by the Bears. He scored a pair of TDs during the preseason but isn't likely to be more than a fifth/sixth WR (and maybe a return specialist) even if he gets healthy at some point soon.
