Mike Boone - Not returning Week 5 The Broncos didn't activate Boone (quadriceps) from injured reserve Saturday, making him ineligible to play Sunday against the Steelers, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.

Impact Head coach Vic Fangio teased a potential Boone return Sunday while the running back practiced for a second straight week, but the Broncos will ultimately keep him off the 53-man roster for a little longer. Since Boone's 21-day evaluation window opened Sept. 29, Denver will have to activate him by Oct. 20, or shut him down for the season. While Boone is idle for at least one more game, Damarea Crockett will serve as the No. 3 back behind Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams.

He hasn't played since Week 1 when he made six tackles and deflected a pass against the Giants, and his next chance to step on the gridiron will be on Oct. 17 against the Raiders at home.

Impact Bridgewater, who was forced out of the Week 4 loss to the Ravens, was able to clear the necessary medical hurdles in order to gain clearance to start Sunday's game against a Pittsburgh squad in the midst of a three-game losing streak. However, the veteran signal-caller -- who heads into Week 5 with a solid 72.1 percent completion percentage and a 5:0 TD:INT -- will be working with a banged-up pass-catching corps, headed by wideouts Courtland Sutton (who's managing an ankle issue) and Tim Patrick, along with tight end Noah Fant. Meanwhile, WRs Jerry Jeudy (ankle) and KJ Hamler (knee) and TE Albert Okwuegbunam (hamstring) are all on IR.

Impact With Gordon active, as expected, he'll continue to split work with rookie Javonte Williams, an arrangement that has yielded 51 carries and 11 passing targets for Gordon and 46 carries and nine targets for Williams through Denver's first four contests. While a timeshare is never optimal for fantasy purposes, Gordon has maintained a degree of lineup utility by averaging 62.0 rushing yards per game with two TDs as well as an average of 21.8 yards via the air thus far.

As long as his ankle holds up, Sutton and Tim Patrick should head the team's wideout corps in Week 5, with tight end Noah Fant also slated to be a key target for QB Teddy Bridgewater.
