The standout safety has thus turned in consecutive 12-game campaigns in Seattle that have ended early due to shoulder surgery. Though Adams was able to compile 9.5 sacks in 2020 -- a single-season NFL record for a defensive back -- he failed to get to the quarterback at all in 2021. With Adams now done for the year, Ryan Neal is a prime candidate to handle extra snaps down the stretch.

Impact Adams had been forced out of Sunday's 30-23 win over the 49ers due to a shoulder injury, and Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports Wednesday that the star safety suffered a labrum tear along with significant additional damage. Per Kevin Patra of NFL.com, Adams is expected to make a full recovery for 2022, but it is concerning that the 26-year-old has now had back-to-back seasons end early due to shoulder surgeries. Through 12 appearances, Adams notched 87 tackles (56 solo), five pass breakups and two interceptions, but he has also been held without a single sack.
