Impact Davis, a 2021 first-round pick from Kentucky, was claimed off waivers Monday after being dropped by the Vikings following their Week 16 win over the Seahawks. He's appeared in nine games for the Commanders and Vikings this season, recording 18 total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, over just 106 defensive snaps. Now that Davis has linked up with Gang Green, he's expected to serve as a depth piece in the team's linebacker room for the Week 18 matchup against the Dolphins.

Impact After being cut by the Commanders on Oct. 22, Davis managed to catch on with the Packers' practice squad Oct. 29, though he hasn't been elevated to Green Bay's active roster. Adding Davis to the 53-man roster gives the Vikings much-needed depth at inside linebacker after Ivan Pace (hamstring) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. Not playing Sunday Davis (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Giants, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Impact Davis has started in 28 games for the Commanders over the last two seasons, but he did not start in Week 1 against the Buccaneers and he finished the contest with three tackles (two solo) while playing just 16 snaps (13 on defense, three on special teams). With Washington going to a 3-4 scheme under head coach Dan Quinn, Davis doesn't appear to have an established role in the defense to start the regular season. The 2021 first-round pick's next chance at suiting up will be Week 3 against the Bengals on Sept. 23.
