Suffers elbow injury Bolton left Wednesday's practice early with an elbow issue, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.
Impact The severity of Bolton's injury is currently unknown, but expect Kansas City to be cautious with the 24-year-old's recovery, as he's such an integral part of the team's defensive success. Once Bolton moves past this elbow issue, he'll likely remain the Chiefs' top inside linebacker.

Returns to camp Jones (groin) was spotted participating in Wednesday's practice, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports.
Impact Jones has been nursing a groin injury over the last couple of days, but it now appears as if he's moved past the issue. The 2023 first-team All-Pro racked up 30 total tackles, including 10.5 sacks, while also defending four passes last year, and he's expected to remain one of the best interior defensive lineman in the NFL this coming season.

Comes off PUP list The Chiefs activated Jones (undisclosed) off the active/PUP list Wednesday, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports.
Impact Jones could still be nursing the undisclosed injury that landed him on Kansas City's active/PUP list earlier in July, but he was able to return to practice Wednesday. The 2022 seventh-round pick out of Washington State will likely be competing for a rotational spot in the Chiefs' secondary now that he's back on the field.

Impact Johnson, who tore his right ACL in July of last year, tweaked the same knee earlier in the week and could continue to miss time with the issue. The Marshall product has an opportunity to be one of Kansas City's top cornerbacks in 2024, with L'Jarius Sneed leaving the Chiefs this offseason. Expect Ekow Boye-Doe and Miles Battle to see more reps with Kansas City's first-team defense with Johnson missing time.

Suffers ankle injury Toney left Wednesday's practice with an ankle injury, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
Impact The 2021 first-round pick has a lengthy history of lower-body injuries, which is part of why he's probably competing for return work more so than a regular role on offense at this stage of his career. The Chiefs probably still have something in mind for Toney off the bench, but he's unlikely to get enough snaps for mainstream fantasy value even if the injury turns out be minor and he returns to practice fairly soon.

Returns to practice Edwards-Helaire (illness) returned to practice Wednesday, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Edwards-Helaire is the only RB behind Isiah Pacheco with considerable NFL starting experience, but reports from the first week of training camp suggested 2023 UDFA Deneric Prince was repping ahead of CEH during run periods. While it remains to be seen if Prince is truly pushing ahead of Edwards-Helaire on the depth chart, this should at least be taken as a hint that the latter wouldn't take over all of Pacheco's workload in the event KC's starting RB missed time with an injury. In any case, missing a couple practices with an illness shouldn't have any impact on the backup RB slotting.

Impact Brown figures to jump right back in with the first-team offense after missing a few days due to an illness. It'll be one of the few practices so far in which Brown, Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy are all available, as Worthy missed some time earlier in training camp with an illness of his own.

No pads or helmet Sunday Head coach Andy Reid said Sunday that Johnson did not suit up in pads Sunday after tweaking his right knee, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.
Impact It's the same knee that Johnson underwent surgery for a torn ACL in July of 2023. Johnson's health during training camp will play a big part in whether he can earn a starting spot at corner, a role that was vacated after the Chiefs traded L'Jarius Sneed to the Titans in March. Johnson played in 11 regular-season games in his rookie campaign in 2022, registering eight tackles (five solo) while playing 96 snaps on special teams.

Impact Edwards-Helaire had been placed on the active/non-football illness earlier in camp before being cleared to return to practice last Sunday. It's not clear if the running back's current ailment is related to the earlier issue. Edwards-Helaire is slated to compete for backup running back duties behind Isiah Pacheco during training camp.

Impact Specifics of the illness were not shared, but it doesn't seem like something that will keep Brown out for an extended period. The flashy wideout is set to take on a key role in the Chiefs' passing game this year after signing a one-year deal in March. Though he has the explosiveness to thrive in KC's offense, Brown will need to remain healthy after missing eight contests over the past two years due to injuries.

Impact The severity of Jones' groin strain isn't clear, but it seems likely that he'll be kept off the practice field until he's fully healed. The veteran pass rusher signed a five-year contract to remain in KC in March after posting 10.5 sacks among his 30 tackles over 16 regular-season contests last year. Aside from the one game he sat out in 2023 due to a contract holdout, Jones hasn't missed a contest over the past two campaigns.
