Absent for another practice Murray (ankle) wasn't in attendance for Thursday's practice, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

Impact Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury said last week that Murray didn't necessarily need to practice in order to play, but after the quarterback ended up sitting out the team's Week 9 win over the 49ers, it's possible the team's stance may have changed. If that's the case, Murray may need to get on the field in some capacity Friday for the Cardinals and fantasy managers alike to be optimistic that he'll be available Sunday against the Panthers. If Murray's sprained left ankle keeps him sidelined for a second straight game, Colt McCoy would pick up another start at quarterback.

Impact Murray sustained the injury near the end of a Week 8 loss to the Packers and didn't practice at all last week before being deemed inactive for the Cardinals' Week 9 game at San Francisco. When speaking to the media Monday, coach Kliff Kingsbury told Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com that he didn't "have a feel for it yet" regarding Murray's potential to play this weekend. Kingsbury and company likely will want to see Murray mix into practice Thursday or Friday to make the decision-making process a bit easier, but Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the quarterback doesn't necessarily have to do so to return to action Sunday. If Murray is held out again, though, Colt McCoy will serve as the Cards' starting quarterback.

Impact Before Murray was inactive for Sunday's 31-17 win over the 49ers, Kingsbury termed him as a "game-day decision" leading into the contest. The coach's comments a day after the game seemingly hints that Murray wasn't that close to suiting up at San Francisco, and a clearer picture of the quarterback's outlook for Week 10 likely won't come until Arizona resumes practicing Wednesday. Because Murray didn't practice in any fashion last week, he may need to get back on the field as at least a limited participant by Friday to put himself in a position to play. For what it's worth, backup Colt McCoy -- who completed 22 of 26 attempts for 249 yards and a touchdown in his Week 9 spot start -- said Monday in an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show that he expects Murray to be back in action versus Carolina.
