Alexander Mattison - Struggles as lead back Mattison rushed the ball 15 times for 38 yards in Sunday's 34-18 loss to the Broncos. He added two receptions on three targets for 23 yards.

Impact Mattison took over as the lead back in the Raiders' backfield and tripled his previous high in carries for the season. He was ineffective with the opportunity, however, as his longest rush went for just eight yards while averaging 2.5 yards per carry. Mattison salvaged his day to some degree with his work as a pass catcher, though it wouldn't be a surprise to see Ameer Abdullah mix in more in Week 6 against Pittsburgh if Zamir White (groin) remains sidelined.

Brock Bowers - First pro touchdown Bowers recorded eight receptions on 12 targets for 97 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 34-18 loss to the Broncos.

Impact Bowers was a bright spot in an otherwise dismal game for the Raiders, and he began his day with an impressive 57-yard touchdown during which he leaped over a defender and then broke free for the long score. He was otherwise used primarily in short areas of the field, though his 12 targets were a season high. Quarterback play will likely be a problem for at least the rest of 2024, but Bowers could take over as the top pass-catching option in the absence of Davante Adams.

Aidan O'Connell - Enters in relief again O'Connell completed 10 of 20 passes for 93 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Sunday's 34-18 loss to the Broncos.

Impact For the second time in the last three games, O'Connell replaced Gardner Minshew. O'Connell took over late in the third quarter and led four uneven possessions. He did lead a touchdown drive, during which he went 8-for-11 for 79 yards, though it came in garbage time and he rarely pushed the ball down the field. O'Connell also threw an interception and had a three-and-out. Despite O'Connell's ineffectiveness, coach Antonio Pierce declined to name a starter for a Week 6 matchup against the Steelers, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Gardner Minshew II - Starting role in question Minshew completed 12 of 17 passes for137 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in Sunday's 34-18 loss to the Broncos. He added two rushes for 22 yards.

Impact Minshew began the game fairly well, as he led the Raiders' on two lengthy drives that resulted in 10 points -- the first of which was capped by a 57-yard touchdown pass. However, things stalled from there, with the low point coming on a 100-yard pick-six by Patrick Surtain. After five additional scoreless drives and another interception, Minshew was pulled late in the third quarter. That marks the second time he's been benched in the last three games, and after the loss, coach Antonio Pierce did not rule out a change under center, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Christian Wilkins - Won't return for second half Wilkins has been ruled out for the remainder of Sunday's game against the Broncos due to a foot injury.

Impact Wilkins stayed in the locker room after halftime due to a foot injury he sustained late in the second quarter. He'll end his day registering five tackles (four solo), including 1.0 sacks. Adam Butler is the top candidate to fill in at defensive tackle for the rest of Sunday's game alongside John Jenkins.

The star wideout's current hamstring injury will keep him out of a second straight game Sunday and could delay the urgency of getting a deal done, but it doesn't seem likely to stand in the way of an eventual trade. Adams has said he is open to playing for several different teams, making a deal more likely to materialize.
