Impact Leading up to this past Sunday's game at Baltimore, Akers was uninhibited in practice before the Rams included him on the inactive list for the second week in a row. However, head coach Sean McVay has laid the groundwork for Akers to return to action Week 18 following a quicker-than-anticipated recovery from a mid-July Achilles tear. After acknowledging Monday that he thought Akers was ready to go for the regular-season finale, McVay went a step further Wednesday, telling Stu Jackson of the team's official site that the running back participated in the jog-through session and "was full speed, flying around...he'll be ready to go (Sunday against the 49ers)." What kind of workload Akers handles this weekend isn't clear, but assuming he's active, he'll be spelling Sony Michel, who has averaged 23.4 touches per game over the last five contests.
