Spencer Rattler - Returns to practice Tuesday Rattler (thigh) took part in Tuesday's practice, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Impact Rattler entered this past Saturday's preseason game in Arizona after Derek Carr (two drives) and Jake Haener (the rest of the first half), and the rookie fifth-rounder completed nine of 17 passes for 70 yards while tallying two rushes for right yards and a touchdown. On Sunday, the Saints were back on the practice field, but Rattler didn't join his teammates due to a bruised thigh. He was allowed to mix back into drills just two days later, but Katherine Terrell of ESPN.com noted that Rattler was visibly limping from time to time. If the issue lingers into this weekend, there's a chance New Orleans exercises caution and keeps Rattler on the sideline Sunday at San Francisco.

Rashid Shaheed - Back at practice Shaheed (hamstring) donned a red non-contact jersey during Tuesday's practice, Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Impact Shaheed has been dealing with a tight hamstring since Aug. 3, which kept him sidelined for this past Saturday's preseason contest at Arizona. Tuesday's development marks the his first visible on-field activity in the meantime, but he likely will need to ditch the non-contact jersey entirely in order to gain clearance for game action, which could come as early as this Sunday in San Francisco.

Alvin Kamara - Dealing with back injury Coach Dennis Allen said Kamara didn't practice Tuesday due to back tightness, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
Impact Prior to Tuesday's session, Kamara participated in walkthrough, so he wasn't without some activity, and Allen told Luke Johnson of The New Orleans Times-Picayune afterward that the running back's situation is "not a big deal." Kamara handled six offensive snaps during this past Saturday's preseason win at Arizona, but it's unclear if the current concern will impact his availability for Sunday's exhibition at San Francisco.

Jake Haener - Efficient in preseason opener Haener completed nine of 13 passes for 107 yards during Saturday's 16-14 preseason win against the Cardinals. He also rushed once for three yards.
Impact Haener relieved starting quarterback Derek Carr after he and the rest of the team's first-team offense came out of the game following their second offensive series. While the 25-year-old backup did not score himself, he did lead back-to-back field-goal drives in the second quarter. This included the biggest highlight of the game when he heaved a 58-yard pass down the left sideline for second-year wideout A.T. Perry, setting up kicker Blake Grupe for a 33-yard field goal as time expired in the first half. He then turned the reins over to rookie signal-caller Spencer Rattler for the second half. These two will continue to compete for the No.2 quarterback job heading into New Orleans' second preseason game at San Francisco on Sunday.

Kendre Miller - Sits out preseason opener Miller (hamstring) did not play in Saturday's 16-14 preseason win against Arizona.
Impact Miller has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury in New Orleans' first training camp practice July 24th. The 2023 third-round pick dealt with numerous injuries during his rookie campaign, limiting him to 41 carries and 10 receptions across just eight regular-season appearances. When healthy, Miller is expected to compete with Jamaal Williams for the No.2 running back spot behind Alvin Kamara. But, Miller will have to work his way back onto the playing field in order to unseat Williams in the depth chart. He'll look to get healthy in time for next Sunday's road exhibition against the 49ers.

Charlie Smyth - Hits game-winner in preseason debut Smyth converted his lone field-goal atttempt during Saturday's 16-14 victory over Arizona.
Impact Smyth got his first and only chance for a field goal with eight seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, and he did not disappoint hitting a 37-yarder to seal the victory for New Orleans. The 22-year-old first got on the field for the opening kickoff of the second half, as returning starter Blake Grupe handled the kicking duties in the first half. However, Grupe did step back in for the team's only point-after-attempt of the second half, and he went 2-for-2 on field-goal tries for the game. Smyth joined New Orleans through the NFL's International Player Pathway by way of Ireland, and he's likely still considered a longshot to unseat Grupe as the Saints' starting kicker this preseason. His next opportunity will come in Sunday's road contest against the 49ers.

Stanley Morgan Jr. - Logs one catch in preseason opener Morgan (hip) caught one of four targets for 13 yards during Saturday's 16-14 preseason win against the Cardinals.
Impact Morgan was dealing with a hip injury leading into Saturday's exhibition, but he managed to play 31 offensive snaps and should be healthy moving forward. The 27-year-old first got on the field in the second quarter and was out there for the final offensive series of the game, and he ended up tied for a team-high in targets along with second-year wideout A.T. Perry and Chris Olave. Morgan's availability should help his case to eventually make the final 53-man roster, asfellow wideouts Equanimeous St. Brown (hamstring), Mason Tipton (hamstring) and Bub Means all did not play.

Khaleke Hudson - Absent from practice Hudson (undisclosed) was unavailable for the Saints' practice Sunday, Ross Jackson of WWL Louisiana reports.
Impact Hudson finished with four total tackles in Saturday's 16-14 victory over the Cardinals in the team's preseason opener. He appears to have left the contest a little dinged up and he'll attempt to get back out on the practice field prior to next Sunday's matchup with San Francisco.

Isaiah Stalbird - Dealing with ankle injury Stalbird suffered an ankle sprain in Saturday's 16-14 win over the Cardinals, John Hendrix of SI.com reports.
Impact Stalbird left Saturday's contest a little worse for wear, and he could miss multiple weeks of action, according to head coach Dennis Allen. The linebacker is battling for a spot on the 53-man roster, so the injury comes at a rather unfortunate time for Stalbird.

Spencer Rattler - Absent from practice Rattler was unavailable for practice Sunday due to a thigh bruise, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Impact Rattler appears to have suffered the injury in Saturday's 16-14 win over the Cardinals and he's expected to be back for the team's next practice. The quarterback completed nine passes for 70 yards while also turning two carries into eight yards and a score against Arizona. Rattler will look to return to the field as soon as possible as he's in the midst of a competition with Jake Haener for the top backup role behind Derek Carr in 2024.

A.T. Perry - Stars in preseason opener Perry caught all four of his targets for 85 yards during Saturday's 16-14 presason victory over the Cardinals.
Impact Perry turned in a really solid outing as the Saints' leading receiver in yards, catches and targets Saturday. The 2023 sixth-round pick's biggest highlight came just before halftime when he got behind Arizona's secondary before hauling in a 58-yard heave down the left the sideline from backup quarterback Jack Haener. While Perry stepped out of bounds just shy of the red zone, this catch set up the team up for a 33-yard field goal as time expired in the first half. His overall performance is an encouraging sign for Perry after head coach Dennis Allen said at the end of July that he needed to see more from the young wideout this training camp. Also, three of his biggest competitors for snaps this preseason -- Equanimeous St. Brown (hamstring), Mason Tipton (hamstring) and Bub Means -- all did not play during Saturday's preseason opener.

Shaquan Davis - Back in Big Easy The Saints signed Davis to a contract Sunday.
Impact Davis signed with the Eagles in January after spending the entire 2023 season on the Saints' practice squad. He was waived by Philadelphia on Wednesday, and after clearing waivers, the 24-year-old wide receiver will return to New Orleans in an attempt to crack the Saints' 53-man roster. Marquez Callaway was let go by the Saints to make room on the 90-man training camp roster for Davis.

Jamaal Williams - Unimpressive in preseason opener Williams logged six carries for 20 yards and caught his only target for one yard during Saturday's 16-14 preseason win against Arizona.
Impact Williams did not start but was on the field with the Saints' first-team offense, as he alternated carries with Alvin Kamara on the team's first two offensive series. The 29-year-old backup stayed busy when he was on the field, as he was credited with just 11 offensive snaps. Unsurprisingly, he also got on the field before both Jordan Mims and James Robinson, and these two did not find much success either with 3.8 and 3.9 yards per carry, respectively. With second-year running back Kendre Miller currently sidelined by a hamstring injury this preseason, Williams looks like he's in solid position to retain his No.2 running back job this season.

Cedrick Wilson Jr. - Quiet outing in preseason start Wilson caught his lone target for one yard Saturday's 16-14 preseason win over the Cardinals. He also returned to punts for 24 yards.
Impact Wilson did not make much of an impression while working in with New Orleans' first-team offense, which was on the field for the first two drives Saturday. The 28-year-old appeared to step in place for absent Rashid Shaheed (hamstring), as he also handled the team's punt-return duties throughout the first quarter. Wilson's role as a pass-catcher may be limited, but his value as a backup punt returner should help him latch onto the Saints' final 53-man roster.

Impact Olave was the target on Derek Carr's first three pass attempts on the opening possession, logging his one catch on the second one. The talented third-year wideout, who produced a career-best 87-1,123-5 line across 16 regular-season games in 2023, is in line to serve as Carr's top receiver once again in the coming season and lost proven competition for targets when Michael Thomas (knee) was released this offseason.
