Joining Chicago Tonyan agreed Thursday with the Bears on a one-year deal, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Impact Tonyan, who logged a career-high 53 catches (on 67 targets) for 470 yards and two touchdowns in 17 games with the Packers last season, adds quality depth to a Chicago tight end corps that also includes returning starter Cole Kmet. The duo will provide QB Justin Fields with a pair of solid pass catchers at the position, but the prospect of a timeshare with Kmet caps Tonyan's fantasy upside ahead of the coming season.

Impact The veteran tight end was on the field for 37 of the Packers' 60 offensive snaps and was unable to produce much for fantasy purposes with his opportunities. He finished the season with 53 catches for 470 yards and two touchdowns. Fantasy managers thinking that Tonyan would become a bigger factor in 2022 with the departures of Davante Adams and Marquez Valdes-Scantling were met with great disappointment, as the 28-year-old was typically an afterthought in Green Bay's inconsistent aerial attack. After inking a one-year, $3.75 million contract with Green Bay last offseason, Tonyan is set to become a free agent in the spring.

One game was not enough to drop Tonyan behind Lewis when it comes to fantasy options, but it will make it even tougher for those still going in their fantasy leagues to trust Tonyan in Week 17.

Impact Tonyan led Packers tight ends in snaps for a ninth game in a row, but he also was on the field for fewer than 60 percent of the plays run by the Packers offense for the fourth time in as many contests, and he finished with a season low in the receiving yards column. In Week 16, Tonyan and the Packers will take on a Dolphins team that allowed opposing tight ends to score six touchdowns over its last six games, but it's tough to envision him capitalizing, as he has scored just once all season and averaged 1.6 receptions and 12.2 yards over his last five appearances.

His recent output certainly does not inspire any confidence, but he will at least have an appealing matchup for the first time in a while when Green Bay returns from its Week 14 bye, as he and the Packers will face a Rams defense that has had trouble with opposing tight ends in recent weeks.

Impact Tonyan sat out Thursday's practice on account of the illness, but he returned to the field Friday as a full participant to erase any concern about his health. He'll handle his usual duties Sunday as the Packers' starting tight end, but the role hasn't been as fruitful as some might have anticipated heading into the season. Though he's suited up in each of Green Bay's first 11 games, Tonyan has found the end zone only once and is averaging 3.7 catches and 31.1 receiving yards per contest.
