Impact The kicker's groin tightened up during practice Wednesday, and he's now considered day-to-day as Sunday's game against the Bills approaches. While the Jets don't have another kicker on their active roster, Sergio Castillo is a member of the team's practice squad.

Impact This is Ficken's first appearance on the injury report this season. If the groin injury keeps Ficken from kicking Sunday against the Bills, New York will need to bring in some outside help at the position, perhaps in the form of Brett Maher, whom Ficken beat out in the team's preseason kicking competition.

Impact Ficken hadn't missed a kick that counted coming into this contest, but his 55-yard misfire was a fitting punishment for an inexcusable 13-yard intentional grounding penalty taken by Joe Flacco on 3rd-and-1 from Miami's 24-yard line. That was New York's second fruitless trip inside Miami's 25, and the first didn't even end with a field-goal attempt after an offensive pass interference penalty followed by a botched snap knocked the Jets out of range entirely. New York has scored just 10 points in two games without starting quarterback Sam Darnold (shoulder), but the Jets will hope to have Darnold back against the Bills in Week 7.

He also missed from 46 yards in the second quarter, but that play was nullified by an unnecessary roughness penalty against Denver for helmet contact on the defenseless long-snapper. Ficken later capped that drive with his 26-yarder. New York's previously dormant offense finally got going against the injury-riddled Denver defense, but things will likely get tougher in Week 5 with the Cardinals coming to town.

Impact New York's offense actually looked alright early on, but it was all Colts after Sam Darnold was intercepted on 1st-and-goal down 17-7 in the second quarter. The Jets are averaging just 12.3 points per game heading into a Week 4 home game against the Broncos, so Ficken's opportunities have been limited.
