The linebacker hasn't played since Week 4, but he appears to have a good chance of returning to action Sunday versus Kansas City. Impact Mustapha suffered a low-ankle sprain last Thursday against Seattle and wasn't able to return after the injury. The extended time between that contest and the beginning of the Week 7 practice slate may have aided in the safety being able to get back on the practice field Wednesday, though he was a limited participant. Mustapha seems to have a chance of suiting up Sunday versus Kansas City, but George Odum would likely take over in a starting role if Mustapha can't play.

Charvarius Ward - Practices in full Wednesday Ward (knee) was a full participant in practice Wednesday.
Impact Ward was also seen practicing in Monday's bonus practice, so it appears the cornerback is back to near-full health after missing Week 6 due to a knee injury. He's had a good amount of time to recover because that game against the Seahawks was on a Thursday, and at this point it seems Ward will be ready to return Sunday against Kansas City. In the five contests in which he's played, Ward has tallied 22 tackles (17 solo) and four pass defenses.

Matthew Wright - Doesn't practice Wednesday Wright (shoulder) was held out of practice Wednesday.
Impact Wright injured his shoulder while making a tackle late in last Thursday's win over Seattle. An MRI returned negative, and early indications were that the UCF product would be be able to avoid missing any time, but his DNP to begin the practice week casts at least a little doubt on that expectation. Jake Moody -- who is the 49ers' primary kicker when healthy -- is still recovering from a high-ankle sprain and isn't likely to be ready to return Sunday against Kansas City. San Francisco has former Packer Anders Carlson on the practice squad in case neither Moody nor Wright is able to play Week 7.

Currently, the team has a 21-day window in which to evaluate the rookie first-rounder and get him back on the active roster. With Deebo Samuel (wrist) limited and Jauan Jennings (hip) not practicing Wednesday, there may be reason for San Francisco to need reinforcements at wide receiver Sunday against the Chiefs.

Impact It's a new concern for San Francisco's No. 3 receiver, coming off a 3-27-0 receiving line (five target) in the 36-24 win over Seattle last Thursday. Jennings has just seven catches for 128 yards in three games since his 11-175-3 explosion Week 3 against the Rams, operating as the fourth option in San Francisco's passing game ever since Deebo Samuel and George Kittle returned from their respective injuries.

Deebo Samuel Sr. - Dealing with wrist injury Coach Kyle Shanahan said Samuel will be limited at Wednesday's practice due to a wrist injury, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Samuel has been hit or miss in his five appearances this season, surpassing the century mark in receiving yards two times while combining for a 9-123-0 line on 17 targets in his other three contests. The offense has been without premier running back Christian McCaffrey all season due to Achilles tendinitis, so Samuel has supplemented his work as a pass catcher with 19 carries for 51 yards and one touchdown. With a health concern in tow, Samuel may enter the weekend with a designation for Sunday's showdown with the Chiefs, something that will become known on Friday's practice report.

At Monday's unofficial session, Mason was sporting a non-contact jersey, and his capped practice Wednesday likely indicates the same will come to pass. Isaac Guerendo will be the biggest beneficiary Sunday against the Chiefs if Mason cedes any of his typical workload to the rest of the 49ers backfield.
