Suits up in preseason loss McMillan (general soreness) brought in one of three targets for six yards in the Buccaneers' 20-7 preseason loss to the Jaguars on Saturday night.
Impact The rookie was able to suit up after dealing with some soreness following his first taste of NFL action last Saturday. McMillan was quiet Saturday night but did see a deep target from Kyle Trask on the opening possession, and he continues to acquit himself competently despite the fact he's yet to have an opportunity to see in-game action with Baker Mayfield under center. McMillan will have one more opportunity to make a case for the No. 3 receiver job in the preseason finale at home against the Dolphins on Friday night.

Impact Tucker was the second running back to log a carry behind Bucky Irving, and he outgained his teammate by six yards with two fewer carries. Tucker also was effective as a returner, and with 100 rushing yards on 14 carries through two preseason contests, he appears well on his way to securing the No. 3 running back job over Chase Edmonds (undisclosed).

Starts again Saturday night Irving rushed six times for 26 yards in the Buccaneers' 20-7 preseason loss to the Jaguars on Saturday night.
Impact The rookie drew another start with Rachaad White sitting out, and Irving was able to deliver a solid performance with a team-high number of carries. Irving has handled himself well over his first two preseason games and remains on track to serve as the primary complement alongside White, who should enjoy a robust role within new coordinator Liam Coen's offense.

Hurts ribs in second preseason game Wolford suffered a rib injury during Saturday's exhibition loss to Jacksonville, Scott Smith of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Impact Baker Mayfield didn't suit up for the contest, leaving Kyle Trask to play the first half and Wolford to handle the second. The latter couldn't complete the fourth quarter, as he was injured on a roughing the passer penalty with less than two minutes remaining, resulting in Trask reentering the game. Head coach Todd Bowles said after the matchup that he isn't sure how severe Wolford's injury is, but if the QB needs to miss the team's final exhibition game next Friday against Miami, his outside chance of unseating Trask for the backup role behind Mayfield could come to an end. As it is, Trask had the better performance Saturday, completing 12 of 19 pass attempts for 108 yards and a touchdown and adding one rush for four yards on the ground while Wolford completed just 7 of 14 pass attempts for 52 yards with no scores.

Departs with knee injury Merriweather won't return to Saturday's exhibition contest versus Jacksonville due to a knee injury, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Impact Merriweather was hurt on a Jaguars rushing play early in the second quarter and has since been ruled out from returning. The safety is looking to see increased work on defense after logging most of his work on special teams as a rookie last year. Merriweather has had a strong camp and is currently slated to back up Jordan Whitehead (quadriceps) and Antoine Winfield if the knee issue doesn't prove to be serious.

Not expected to play Godwin and most other starters aren't expected to play in Saturday's preseason game against Jacksonville, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Coach Todd Bowles didn't specifically name Godwin, but Bowles did say QB Baker Mayfield won't play and suggested the approach will be similar to that from Tampa's preseason opener (in which Mayfield, Godwin and many others were held out). Bowles said last week that he's leaning toward playing more starters in the third and final preseason game.

Dealing with foot injury Funderburk sported a walking boot on his left foot and didn't practice Thursday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact Buccaneers head coach said after Thursday's practice that Funderburk is day-to-day, per Caleb Skinner of SI.com. The 23-year-old undrafted rookie is nonetheless at risk of missing the team's second exhibition contest, which will take place Saturday versus Jacksonville. Funderburk has turned heads during training camp and is in contention for a spot on Tampa Bay's 53-man roster or the practice squad.

Impact Durham injured his knee during practice Wednesday, but at the very least it appears that the second-year pro has avoided a severe issue. It currently appears as though Durham has a solid grip on the backup spot behind No. 1 tight end Cade Otton, so his availability is key for Tampa Bay's offense. It could be difficult for Durham to get healthy in time for Saturday's preseason game against the Jaguars, however.

Knue's usage as a returner was particularly noteworthy, considering he ran back all of one kickoff during his six-year college tenure at Eastern Michigan. Knue appears to almost certainly be a practice-squad candidate at best due to the Buccaneers' deep receiver corps, but the coaching staff is apparently intrigued by his talent given the amount of opportunity he saw in his first preseason game.

Braswell is expected to play a key rotational role right from the onset of his career, with Tampa Bay banking on the same talent that led to him leading the SEC in quarterback pressures (56) in 2023 manifesting itself regularly at the NFL level.
