Placed on IR The Buccaneers placed Dzansi on injured reserve Thursday due to a knee injury, Scott Smith of the team's official site reports.
Impact Dzansi injured his knee during practice Saturday, per Smith. Dzansi spent all of 2023 on the practice squad, and he will now be forced to miss all of 2024. Guard Ryan Johnson was signed to the Bucs' 90-man training camp roster in a corresponding move.

Named starter for preseason opener Head coach Todd Bowles announced Thursday that Trask will start in Saturday's preseason opener against the Bengals, Brianna Dix of the Buccaneers' official site reports.
Impact Starting quarterback Baker Mayfield and several other Bucs starters -- including wide receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and tight end Cade Otton -- will not suit up for Saturday's contest, per Dix. Trask will lead the offense to the start the game, with third-string quarterback John Wolford expected to take over at some point. Saturday's contest gives Trask an opportunity to solidify himself as the backup quarterback to Mayfield, and will also give players like 2024 third-round wideout Jalen McMillan the chance for extra reps.

Most of the Tampa starters will be held out Saturday evening, but McMillan looks to be an exception in light of Bowles saying that "all the rookies" will play. However, WR Jalen McMillan seemingly will get snaps despite projecting for the No. 3 receiver role, as Bowles said "all the rookies" will play.

Impact It has been one week since Whitehead sustained the injury at practice. The team has not given any sort of timetable for his return as of now. When healthy, the 27-year-old is projected to start next to Antoine Winfield at safety in the Buccaneers' secondary in the upcoming season. While he is sidelined, Rashad Wisdom is presumably getting plent of reps in at strong safety.
