Impact The starting RB often plays less than other starters, but White figures to at least take a few snaps in the only action Tampa's first-team offense will get this preseason. He's locked in atop the depth chart again, although there's some thought rookie fourth-round pick Bucky Irving will have a bigger role than last year's group of backups ever managed. White led all RBs with 823 snaps in the regular season last year, tying for second in carries (272) and ninth in targets (70) despite averaging just 3.6 yards per carry. His 91.4 percent catch rate led all qualified pass catchers, and 7.8 yards per target was the fourth-best mark among qualified RBs.

Sterling Shepard - Unlikely to play Friday Shepard (undisclosed) is not likely to suit up for the Buccaneers' preseason finale against the Dolphins on Friday, Greg Auman of Fox Sports reports.

Impact An unspecified injury has kept Shepard from playing in either of the Bucs' first two preseason games, and it appears he will also sit out for the preseason finale Friday. Naturally considered a longshot to make it early on, Greg Auman of Fox Sports believes the 22-year-old will make the team as their No. 5 wide receiver, partially because of his ability to also be used as a return man on special teams.

Impact Barton was selected in the first round (26th overall) of the 2024 NFL Draft after primarily operating as a left tackle at Duke. The 22-year-old will now officially make the switch to center, beating out Robert Hainsey for the starting role.

Impact That's two misses in as many preseason contests for McLaughlin, who parlayed a career-best 93.5 percent success rate on field-goal attempts across 17 regular-season games in 2023 to score a three-year extension this offseason. McLaughlin doesn't have any competition on the roster and could well just be working through some kinks, but an unblemished performance in the exhibition finale against the Dolphins on Friday night would certainly build some confidence.

Tanner Knue - Stays busy in second preseason game Knue secured five of six targets for 33 yards and returned one kickoff for 20 yards in the Buccaneers' 20-7 preseason loss to the Jaguars on Saturday night.

Impact Knue tied Cody Thompson for the team lead in receptions and targets while checking in second to his teammate in receiving yards. Knue now has seven receptions across his first two preseason games and has gained 50 yards on two kickoff returns, but he may still have a difficult time latching on to the final 53-man roster unless he puts on a spectacular showing in Friday's preseason finale against the Dolphins.

Cody Thompson - Stellar in second preseason game Thompson secured five of six targets for 66 yards and a touchdown and rushed twice for 12 yards in the Buccaneers' 20-7 preseason loss to the Jaguars on Saturday night.

Impact Thompson has appeared in 12 regular-season games for the Seahawks since making his pro debut in 2021, but he has all of one catch to show for it. However, he's making a solid case in his longshot bid for a roster spot, following up his 3-26 line on four targets in the exhibition opener against the Bengals by either tying for or owning the team lead in receptions, receiving yards and targets Saturday night. Thompson also scored the only points of the night for Tampa Bay on his six-yard touchdown grab late in the second quarter, and he could give head coach Todd Bowles and his staff a tough decision to make come cut-down day if he continues his strong play in Friday night's preseason finale against the Dolphins.
