Jetting to New York The Jets and Conklin agreed to terms on a contract Wednesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Impact In 2021 with Minnesota, Conklin benefited from the loss of Irv Smith for the season due to a torn meniscus in late August, breaking out with a 61-593-3 receiving line on 87 targets in 17 games. With his new squad, Conklin joins C.J. Uzomah to form a remodeled tight end room. Conklin likely will play second fiddle to Uzomah, and passes from second-year signal-caller Zach Wilson may be difficult to come by in an offense that includes wide receivers Corey Davis (groin), Elijah Moore (quadriceps/illness) and Braxton Berrios.

Minimal role in season finale Conklin caught two of four targets for six yards during Week 18's 31-17 win over the Bears.
Impact With Irv Smith (knee) lost for the year before the season began, Conklin came into 2021 with a bigger role than expected. He fared admirably, notching multiple catches in all but one game and finished the 2021 campaign with 61 receptions for 593 yards and three touchdowns -- all career highs. Conklin is set to be a free agent this offseason, so he may draw some interest from around the league after his career year, which in turn would make it difficult for the Vikings to bring him back.

Gets nine targets in loss Conklin (hamstring) had five receptions (nine targets) for 47 yards in Sunday's 37-10 loss to Green Bay.
Impact Conklin did have a minor scare when he was leveled with a clean hit while trying to haul in a pass, resulting in a wild immaculate reception type of play where Minnesota's center, Garrett Bradbury, caught the deflection and rumbled for 21 yards. The Vikings' starting tight end stayed on the ground after absorbing the big hit, but he appeared to favoring his midsection and not his previously-injured hamstring. Conklin eventually returned to the game and appears to have avoided serious injury heading into the regular season finale against the Bears next Sunday.

Impact Conklin increased his activity level slowly but surely throughout Week 17 prep, going from no activity Wednesday to all of it at Friday's practice. Minnesota's offense will be directed by Sean Mannion on Sunday after Kirk Cousins (illness) tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday, but with Adam Thielen (ankle) on injured reserve Conklin has less competition than normal for targets.

Impact For the first time all season, Conklin heads into game day with a designation, though his ability to take every rep Friday bodes well for his chances of avoiding the inactive list. Assuming Conklin gets the green light to play, he could prove to be a trusted safety valve underneath for fill-in starting quarterback Sean Mannion, who is less likely to take chances downfield than Kirk Cousins. With Cousins on the reserve/COVID-19 list after testing positive for the virus Friday, the Vikings could struggle to keep pace with a high-powered Green Bay offense in the rematch of a game that produced 65 points between the teams in Week 11, though Conklin may be less likely than wideouts Justin Jefferson and K.J. Osborn to be hindered from a production standpoint.

Impact Aside from having practice limitations during Week 4 prep due to glute and elbow issues, Conklin has avoided Vikings injury reports this season. His weekly numbers mostly has been modest, but he still has put together a 54-540-3 line on 74 targets, which easily surpasses the 32-329-1 line on 43 targets that he combined for in his first three campaigns. Assuming he's able to put the issue behind him by Sunday night's game at Green Bay, Conklin could be in line for more volume following the placement of Adam Thielen (ankle) on injured reserve Wednesday.

Back on track in Week 16 Conklin caught four of his five targets for 44 yards during Sunday's 30-23 loss to the Rams.
Impact Conklin had caught at least two passes in every single game this season until he was held to just one catch for seven yards against the Bears in Week 15. However, the tight end bounced back against the Rams to notch his seventh game with at least four catches and his seventh game with at least 40 yards receiving. Through 15 games, the 26-year-old has totaled 54 catches for 540 yards and three touchdowns. Conklin caught all three of his targets for 35 yards during the Vikings' first meeting with the Packers and will likely see a similar workload during the rematch in Week 17.
