Nate Schmidt - Pockets helper in big winSchmidt recorded a power-play assist and three hits in Saturday's 6-0 win over the Hurricanes.
ImpactNot to rain on any parades, but Schmidt's helper came on the Panthers' last goal as they were running up the score in the third period. The 33-year-old often plays on the second power-play unit, but it hasn't led to a particularly high level of offense or consistency. He's up to eight points (three on the power play), 18 shots on net, 27 hits, 17 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating across 23 appearances. Schmidt played in all but one of the Panthers' 14 games in November and looks to have the edge over Uvis Balinskis and Adam Boqvist in terms of staying in the lineup at this stage of the campaign.

Adam Boqvist - Draws in, scores goalBoqvist scored a goal on three shots in Saturday's 6-0 win over the Hurricanes.
ImpactBoqvist got his first goal of the season during a four-goal burst over a span of 4:42 in the third period. The 24-year-old defenseman hadn't played much in November, playing in just one of the first 13 games of the month. He replaced Uvis Balinskis in the lineup Saturday and could compete with him moving forward. Boqvist has three points, 14 shots on net, seven blocked shots and a minus-5 rating through 11 appearances. His upside comes from offense, but he's unlikely to help in fantasy if he can't stay in the lineup.

Mackie Samoskevich - Beats buzzer in second periodSamoskevich scored a power-play goal on four shots in Saturday's 6-0 win over the Hurricanes.
ImpactSamoskevich netted a buzzer-beater in the second period for his second goal in three games. His tally put the Panthers ahead 2-0, and they poured on four more goals in the final frame. Samoskevich's spot in the lineup isn't guaranteed, but he's taking strides to improve his standing. He's up to five goals, four helpers, two power-play points, 28 shots on net, 17 hits and a minus-2 rating over 22 appearances this season. That probably won't be enough to generate Calder Trophy buzz, but he's proving himself a decent depth scorer in his rookie campaign.

Evan Rodrigues - Scores in blowout winRodrigues scored a power-play goal on three shots in Saturday's 6-0 win over the Hurricanes.
ImpactThe Panthers ran away with the game in the third period, and Rodrigues netted their last tally. The 31-year-old has racked up a goal and two assists over his last three games to overcome a recent four-game slump. For the season, Rodrigues has six tallies, 13 points (three on the power play), 43 shots on net, 35 hits and a minus-5 rating across 25 appearances. As long as he's on the top line, he's worth considering in fantasy as a source of points, shots and hits.

Matthew Tkachuk - Three-game, four-point streakTkachuk put up two power-play assists in a 6-0 win over the Hurricanes on Saturday.
ImpactHe's on a three-game, four-assist streak that includes six PIM and four shots. Tkachuk's 19 points (five goals, 14 assists) and 52 shots in 20 games may have some people worried after he started slowly last season (20 points in his first 29 games), too. Last season, Tkachuk went on an offensive rampage after Christmas and ended up with 88 points, including 26 goals, in 80 games. Keep the faith. A Tkach-splosion is coming.

Aaron Ekblad - Finally gets first goal of seasonEkblad scored a goal Saturday in a 6-0 win over Carolina.
ImpactIt was Ekblad's first regular-season goal since scoring against the Ottawa Senators on Feb. 20, 2024. He is currently on a three-game, four-point scoring streak (nine shots), and he has 13 points in 25 games this season. Ekblad may never replicate his 57 points in 61 games in 2021-22, but he's a solid fantasy play as a possible 40-plus point defender with a strong plus-minus, some production on the power play and the willingness to wire the puck from the point.

Aleksander Barkov - On career paceBarkov had a goal and an assist in Saturday's 6-0 win over the Hurricanes.
ImpactBoth points came on the power play. Barkov is on a torrid scoring pace right now, with 24 points (six goals, 18 assists) in 17 games. And he's currently on a three-game, five-point streak (two goals, three assists). Barkov missed eight games to injury this season, but he's still on pace to top 100 points for the first time ever... as long as he stays healthy. Barkov always seems to miss time to injury, and he has already been sidelined once this season.
