Teuvo Teravainen - Goal surge continuesTeravainen snapped a four-game pointless streak with a power-play goal in Saturday's 4-0 shutout win over the Lightning.
ImpactTeravainen seems to have a real nose for the net so far this season, as nine of his 10 points have been goals, three of the power-play variety. Not bad for a guy who continues to skate primarily on the third line with Jordan Staal and Jordan Martinook. He's currently on pace for roughly 55 points this season, giving him modest fantasy value in deeper formats.

Stefan Noesen - Hot start to seasonNoesen recorded his third goal of the season in Saturday's 4-0 shutout win over the Lightning.
ImpactNow with nine points in 15 games (3G, 6A), Noesen is off to a great start this season, considering he plays primarily a bottom-six role for the Canes and averages just 11:50 in ice time per game. He's now on pace for a 50-point season -- which seems unlikely considering he only had 36 last year -- so enjoy the scoring surge while it lasts.

Andrei Svechnikov - Notches helper SaturdaySvechnikov posted an even-strength assist in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Lightning.
ImpactSince returning from IR in late October following knee surgery back in March, Svechnikov's point totals (four assists in seven games) have been mediocre at best -- and he's still waiting on his first goal. It may be taking him awhile to get back up to speed, but there's still good reason to expect he will rediscover his scoring touch at some point. You may just want to keep him on your fantasy bench until he starts showing a little more consistency.

Martin Necas - Notches PP helper SaturdayNecas registered a power-play assist in Saturday's 4-0 shutout win over the Lightning.
ImpactNecas took a major leap forward last season with a career-high 71-point campaign in just his fourth full season with the Hurricanes. Now with 12 points in 15 games, he remains on pace for a similar result this year. The 24-year-old Czech continues to rack up very respectable minutes on the second line (18:10 average TOI), and sees first line PP time as well (3:27). Start him with confidence.

Jaccob Slavin - Breaks out of slumpSlavin registered an assist, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Lightning.
ImpactSlavin stormed out of the gate with three goals and four assists through six October contests, but the subsequent eight-game stretch saw the top-pairing defenseman turn in nothing but box-score goose eggs for goals and assists. Oddly enough, only one of his eight points have taken place on home ice, and that was his shorthanded tally to cap off an Opening Night win against the Senators.

Brent Burns - Snaps eight-game point droughtBurns had a goal and an assist in a 4-0 win Saturday over Tampa Bay.
ImpactThe points snapped an eight-game point drought. The goal was a big one -- it was Burns' 248th NHL goal, which pushed him past Hall of Famer Brian Leetch for ninth on the League's all-time goals list for defensemen. Burns has just six points (three goals, three assists) in 15 games this season, which is a big drop from his 61 points from last year. We don't know if the drop is age-related, a complete fluke or the wear-and-tear from 1,348 regular season games and another 109 in the postseason. It bears watching though.
