T.J. Tynan - Placed on waivers The Avalanche have put Tynan on waivers Saturday, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet.
Impact Tynan last played at the NHL level during the 2021-22 campaign, partaking in two games without a point. He spent last season with AHL Ontario, picking up nine goals and 57 assists in 71 regular-season contests. He should be a key cog with the Colorado Eagles of the AHL.

John Ludvig - Claimed by Colorado Ludvig was claimed off waivers by Colorado from Pittsburgh on Saturday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
Impact Ludvig played 33 regular-season games with the Penguins in 2023-24, picking up three goals and a pair of assists. It was his first season in the NHL and he spent most of his time in the press box as he was a healthy scratch on 45 occasions. Ludvig was likely acquired as a depth defenseman by the Avalanche.

Sam Malinski - Pushing for roster spot Malinski scored a goal on two shots, blocked two shots and went plus-2 in Thursday's 3-1 preseason win over the Golden Knights.
Impact Malinski's goal was his second tally and third point over three preseason contests. The 26-year-old featured on the top pairing Thursday, though he'll strictly be a third-pairing option to begin the year if he makes the roster. Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette notes that Malinski seems to have surpassed Oliver Kylington in the battle for the last spot on the blue line based on preseason play. In limited NHL action last year, Malinski produced 10 points, 31 shots on net and a plus-3 rating over 23 appearances.

Jonathan Drouin - Finds twine Thursday Drouin scored a goal on three shots in Thursday's 3-1 preseason win over the Golden Knights.
Impact Drouin opened the scoring at 11:44 of the first period on a pass from Nathan MacKinnon. That's a combination that could happen frequently in 2024-25, especially early in the year before Gabriel Landeskog (knee) or Artturi Lehkonen (shoulder) are available. Drouin wasn't a full-time member of the top-line last year, but his success there and on the power play led him to a career year of 56 points in 79 regular-season contests. If Drouin can stay on the top line, he'll provide excellent value for fantasy managers.

Logan O'Connor - One of each Thursday O'Connor scored an empty-net goal, dished an assist, added two PIM and went plus-2 in Thursday's 3-1 preseason win over the Golden Knights.
Impact This was O'Connor's second game of preseason action. The 28-year-old's 2023-24 campaign was abbreviated by hip surgery, but he hasn't been limited since camp opened. The Avalanche signed O'Connor to a six-year extension in September, solidifying his place as an important part of the team's middle six. O'Connor has produced between 24 and 26 points in each of the last three years while also adding some grit and penalty-killing skill.

Justus Annunen - Sharpens up Thursday Annunen stopped 21 of 22 shots in Thursday's 3-1 preseason win over the Golden Knights.
Impact Annunen had his best outing of the preseason in this road win, quieting a group mostly consisting of Vegas' NHL players. The 24-year-old has allowed seven goals on 74 shots across three preseason appearances. This may have been his last action before Opening Night, though the Avalanche will have one more preseason game at Utah on Saturday.

Justus Annunen - Receiving starting nod Annunen will protect the road goal in Thursday's preseason game versus the Golden Knights, per the NHL media site.
Impact Annunen has had mediocre results this preseason, allowing six goals on 52 shots over two appearances. He'll likely be playing in his last preseason game Thursday against a nearly full NHL-level lineup for the Golden Knights. Annunen is projected to serve as backup to Alexandar Georgiev in 2024-25.

Pierre-Edouard Bellemare - Dropped by Avs Bellemare was released from his professional tryout with Colorado on Thursday.
Impact Bellemare previously spent two seasons with the Avalanche, recording 18 goals, 15 assists and 239 shots in 122 outings. A veteran of 10 NHL campaigns, the 39-year-old Bellemare may have to settle for a minor-league-only deal or make the move to Europe for the upcoming season if he wants to extend his career. Still, with 700 games of NHL experience, Bellemare could still have some suitors around the league.

Artturi Lehkonen - Still in non-contact jersey Lehkonen (shoulder) was skating in a non-contact jersey during Wednesday's practice session, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports.
Impact Lehkonen underwent shoulder surgery in May and has been limited for the start of training camp. Coach Jared Bednar said in mid-September that Lehkonen will be ready to return shortly after he's cleared for contact, but it's not yet clear when that will occur. Over 45 regular-season last year, the 29-year-old tallied 16 goals and 34 points, including seven goals and five assists on the power play.

Calle Rosen - Going on waivers Rosen will be waived Wednesday. He'll be reassigned to AHL Colorado if he clears.
Impact Rosen recorded an assist in six games with St. Louis in 2023-24. He also provided two goals and 33 points across 68 outings with AHL Springfield. Provided he clears waivers, the Avalanche might recall him at some point during the 2024-25 campaign if they run into injury troubles.

Matthew Phillips - Heading to AHL The Avalanche waived Phillips with the intention of reassigning him to AHL Colorado.
Impact Phillips signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Avalanche in early August, and it appears as though he'll begin the 2024-25 regular season in the AHL. He made 31 regular-season appearances between Pittsburgh and Washington last year, recording a goal and five points.

Jack Ahcan - Going through waivers Ahcan will be put on waivers Wednesday for the purposes of sending him to AHL Colorado.
Impact Ahcan had six goals, 38 points and 51 PIM in 70 regular-season AHL contests with the Eagles last year. The 27-year-old is likely to spend most, if not all, of the 2024-25 campaign in the minors.

Alexandar Georgiev - Torched for six goals Georgiev allowed six goals on 37 shots in Tuesday's 6-1 preseason loss to the Golden Knights.
Impact The Avalanche didn't have a particularly veteran roster on the ice, but this wasn't a great showing for Georgiev. The 28-year-old goalie has allowed eight goals on 53 shots over his two preseason appearances, though Justus Annunen isn't doing much better with six goals against on 52 shots. Georgiev is still the No. 1 for Colorado, but his grip on that role is tenuous as he enters a contract year.

Alexandar Georgiev - In goal Tuesday Georgiev will get the starting nod at home versus Vegas on Tuesday, Evan Rawal of the Denver Gazette reports.
Impact Georgiev has played in 60-plus games in each of the Avs' previous two seasons, including the 2023-24 campaign in which he posted a 38-18-5 record to go with a 3.02 GAA, .897 save percentage and two shutouts. Few goalies in the league would still rack up that many wins with a sub-.900 save percentage but Georgiev has the benefit of playing behind one of the top offenses in the league. Still, if the 28-year-old backstop can't improve those numbers, the team could decide to give youngster Justus Annunen some more opportunities this season.

Miles Wood - Returns to action Wood (illness) was back in the lineup in Sunday's 6-3 preseason loss to Utah.
Impact Wood opened the scoring in the contest at the 13:12 mark of the first period during a Colorado power play. He accounted for nine goals and 26 points over 74 regular-season outings in 2023-24. Wood is expected to occupy a bottom-six role for the Avalanche again in 2024-25 but could move up the depth chart if Artturi Lehkonen (shoulder) is unavailable for the start of the year.

Chase Bradley - Headed to AHL Bradley was reassigned to the Colorado Eagles' training camp on Sunday.
Impact Bradley spent the last three years at the University of Connecticut -- he had his most productive season in 2023-24, generating 22 points in 31 regular-season contests. The 22-year-old was a seventh-round selection by Detroit in the 2020 NHL Draft.

Oskar Olausson - Sent to minors Olausson was reassigned to the Colorado Eagles on Sunday.
Impact Olausson will now develop his game at the AHL level and be a key player for the Colorado Eagles. The 21-year-old was a first-round pick by the Avalanche in the 2021 NHL Draft, but he's only appeared in two games at the professional level. The Sweden native banked 20 points in 39 regular-season outings with AHL Colorado in 2023-24.

Jacob MacDonald - Assigned to AHL MacDonald was placed on waivers Sunday with the purpose of being reassigned to AHL Colorado's training camp.
Impact MacDonald will start the season with AHL Colorado after signing a two-year contract with the organization in July. The 31-year-old spent the 2023-24 season with San Jose, registering nine points in 34 regular-season contests.

Impact Mandolese posted a 3.07 GAA and a .901 save percentage in 23 contests with AHL Belleville in 2023-24. The 24-year-old appeared in three NHL games with Ottawa in 2022-23 in which he went 1-2-0 with a 3.30 GAA and a .916 save percentage.
