Cale Makar - Takes point streak up to 12 games Makar scored a power-play goal on three shots, added an assist and blocked three shots in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Predators.

Impact Makar opened the scoring at 2:54 of the second period and helped out on Nathan MacKinnon's tally in the third. This was Makar's second multi-point effort in a row and his seventh in 12 contests this season. The superstar defenseman still hasn't been held off the scoresheet in 2024-25, compiling five goals, 16 helpers, 35 shots on net, 17 blocked shots, 11 hits and a minus-8 rating. He's earned 10 of his 21 points on the power play, with both of those figures good for a share of the league lead in each category.

Nathan MacKinnon - Collects two points in loss MacKinnon scored a goal on six shots, added a power-play assist and logged two hits in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Predators.

Impact MacKinnon earned his eighth multi-point effort in 12 games this season. His tally in the third period brought the Avalanche within one before the Predators scored a pair of empty-netters. MacKinnon's up to an excellent six goals, 20 points, 44 shots on net, 10 power-play points, 11 hits and 10 blocked shots, though he also has a minus-6 rating and 12 PIM. He's one of the most reliable forwards in the league, even if the team around him is falling short of expectations.

Justus Annunen - Takes loss Saturday Annunen stopped 20 of 23 shots in Saturday's 5-2 loss to the Predators. The last two goals were empty-netters.

Impact The Avalanche got within a goal late thanks to Nathan MacKinnon, but the Predators found the empty cage twice after that. Annunen put in a decent effort, but his four-game winning streak was snapped anyway. He's allowed seven goals on 53 shots over his last two contests, dropping to 4-2-0 with a 2.58 GAA and an .899 save percentage across seven games (five starts) overall. Annunen has been the best of the Avalanche's goaltenders, but he's currently in a three-man rotation that also features Alexandar Georgiev and Kaapo Kahkonen. Considering the team is entertaining the idea of three goalies while running short on healthy forwards, this is a fantasy crease situation that could quick get ugly if one of the netminders doesn't get hot soon -- all three have been on the losing end of 5-2 results in the last week. The Avalanche host the Kraken on Tuesday.

Nikita Prishchepov - Reassigned after debut Prishchepiv was reassigned to AHL Colorado on Saturday.

Impact Prishchepov had two shots on goal and three hits over 13:30 of ice time in his NHL debut Saturday. He's officially in the mix for future call-ups as the Avalanche deal with an injury-ravaged forward group. It's unclear if the 20-year-old will be back in the NHL ahead of Tuesday's game versus the Kraken.

Nikolai Kovalenko - Sent to AHL Kovalenko was reassigned to AHL Colorado on Saturday.

Impact This is likely a paper move unless the Avalanche are getting a forward back before Tuesday's game versus the Kraken. Kovalenko saw his point drought reach three games after he was limited to one hit and no other fantasy-relevant stats over 12:25 of ice time Saturday in a 5-2 loss to the Predators.

Impact Annunen has won four straight outings and is coming off a 26-save effort in a 5-4 win over Ottawa on Sunday. He has a 4-1-0 record with a 2.48 GAA and a .905 save percentage through six outings this season. Nashville sits 30th in the league with 2.40 goals per game despite averaging the most shots on goal per game (35.0) in 2024-25.

Valeri Nichushkin - Skates Friday Nichushkin (suspension) skated with the team's skills coach and a staff member Friday after his Avalanche teammates finished practice, Colleen Flynn of Colorado Hockey Now reports.

Impact Colorado head coach Jared Bednar said Nichushkin has been skating at the facility for a couple of weeks, but the forward is not yet allowed around his teammates until the NHL clears him. The 29-year-old forward was suspended May 13 for at least six months without pay and placed in Stage 3 of NHL/NHL Players' Association player assistance program. The six-month minimum window comes to close during November, and Bednar is hoping Nichushkin can start practicing with the team ahead of the time the NHL rules that he can resuming playing in games.

Matt Stienburg - Given two-game suspension Stienburg received a two-game suspension for charging Tampa Bay's Erik Cernak during Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Lightning.

Impact Stienburg will be eligible to return for Thursday's tilt against Winnipeg. The 24-year-old has no points, 22 PIM and 16 shots in eight outings in 2024-25. To say the Avalanche have more than a normal amount of unavailable forwards would be a huge understatement. The Avalanche currently have nine available forwards on their active roster, not including Oliver Kylington, who is a defenseman but served as a forward Wednesday. Colorado will likely recall T.J. Tynan before Saturday's match versus Nashville, but the Avalanche might need to promote more than just him unless Jonathan Drouin (upper body), who is day-to-day, is ready to return.
