He'll enter the Player Assistance Program after reportedly suffering a setback in recovery from the injury. The 25-year-old Laine had six goals and nine points in 18 games with Columbus this season.

Justin Danforth - Garners helper Saturday Danforth logged an assist in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Canucks.
Impact The helper was Danforth's first point in 10 games in January. The 30-year-old saw some top-six usage earlier in the season, but the slump has returned him to his more natural fourth-line role, where picking up offense will likely remain difficult. Danforth has a career-high 19 points with 64 shots on net, 72 hits, 37 blocked shots and a minus-9 rating through 48 appearances.

Yegor Chinakhov - Gathers helper Saturday Chinakhov notched an assist and two shots on goal in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Canucks.
Impact Chinakhov stole the puck and set up Jake Bean for the Blue Jackets' third goal. The 22-year-old Chinakhov is settling in nicely on the top line with two goals and three assists over his last five games. The first-round pick from 2020 has 22 points, 73 shots on net, 29 hits and a minus-4 rating through 37 outings this season, which already represents a career year.

Damon Severson - Sets up shortie Severson logged a shorthanded assist, two shots on goal, two hits, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Canucks.
Impact Severson has picked up three points over his last two games, and he's done that in a variety of situations. The 29-year-old helped out on a shorthanded tally by Alexandre Texier in the second period of Saturday's game. Severson is up to 15 points, 40 shots on net, 53 blocked shots, 26 PIM and a minus-2 rating over 33 appearances this season. He should continue to see top-four minutes and some power-play time.

Johnny Gaudreau - Adds power-play assist Gaudreau notched a power-play assist in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Canucks.
Impact Gaudreau set up a Kirill Marchenko tally in the second period. With five assists and no goals over his last 11 contests, Gaudreau is not living up to expectations in a top-line role. The winger has 30 points, 93 shots on net and a minus-22 rating through 48 appearances. That puts him on pace to fall short of the 74-point campaign he had in 2022-23, which was considered a disappointment.

Zach Werenski - Assists in consecutive outings Werenski produced a power-play assist and two shots on goal in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Canucks.
Impact Werenski has a helper in each of his two games since he returned from an ankle injury. The defenseman has immediately retaken his spot on the top pairing and first power-play unit as the Blue Jackets' top blueliner. He's at 27 points (six on the power play), 91 shots on net, 60 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating through 36 appearances. Werenski should be activated in most fantasy formats even given his lackluster team situation.

Jake Bean - Puts away goal Saturday Bean scored a goal on two shots in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Canucks.
Impact Bean converted off a turnover created by Yegor Chinakhov's takeaway. With five points over his last 13 outings, Bean has at least put up respectable offense for a bottom-four defenseman lately. He's at eight points, 61 shots on net, 66 blocked shots and a minus-12 rating through 45 appearances, so most fantasy managers can do better for their defensive depth.

Sean Kuraly - Finds twine in overtime loss Kuraly scored a goal, added two hits and went plus-2 in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Canucks.
Impact Kuraly briefly left the game after taking an elbow to the head in the third period, but he was able to finish the contest. This was his second straight game with a point. He's up to seven goals, 13 points, 55 shots on net, 86 hits, 30 PIM and a minus-1 rating through 40 outings this season. Kuraly continues to hold down the fourth-line center spot, though his defensive utility will often give him chances to pick up more playing time.

Kirill Marchenko - Strikes on power play Saturday Marchenko scored a power-play goal on four shots and blocked three shots in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Canucks.
Impact Marchenko snapped a four-game slump with a second-period tally that gave the Blue Jackets a 4-1 lead. The 23-year-old has just four points over 10 outings in January, a slight dip compared to his strong December. The winger is now at 15 goals, 25 points (seven on the power play), 120 shots on net and a plus-7 rating through 46 contests overall. He'll likely continue to see time in a middle-six role.

Impact Texier has scored a shortie in each of the last two games after going 14 contests without a goal. The 24-year-old is earning more trust in a bottom-six role, but he's unlikely to be much of a factor on the power play any time soon. Texier is at 16 points, 61 shots on net, 20 hits, 23 blocked shots and a minus-7 rating through 46 appearances this season.

Elvis Merzlikins - Squanders another lead Merzlikins allowed five goals on 33 shots in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Canucks.
Impact The Blue Jackets led 4-1 after two periods, but they got into penalty trouble early in the third. Merzlikins couldn't hinder the Canucks' power play, and the collapse was completed when Elias Pettersson scored in overtime. This was Merzlikins' third straight defeat, and he's allowed 13 goals in that span. For the season, the 29-year-old is at 8-10-7 with a 3.35 GAA and a .901 save percentage over 27 starts. Expect Daniil Tarasov to start Sunday in Seattle.
