Elvis Merzlikins - Starting in Vancouver Merzlikins will defend the road net Saturday against the Canucks, according to Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site.
Impact Merzlikins has lost his past two starts, surrendering eight goals on 57 shots during that span. He has posted a record of 8-10-6 this season with a 3.29 GAA and a .903 save percentage through 26 appearances. Vancouver ranks second in the league this campaign with 3.77 goals per contest.

Impact Boqvist was hit by a puck when he was on the bench in Thursday's 5-2 win over Calgary. He won't be eligible to return until at least Feb. 10 against Tampa Bay. Boqvist has seven assists, 23 shots on goal and 27 blocked shots in 20 outings this season. Andrew Peeke or Nick Blankenburg, who was recalled from AHL Cleveland in a corresponding move, could see playing time in Boqvist's absence over the next three contests.

Nick Blankenburg - Ascends to top level Blankenburg was recalled from AHL Cleveland on Saturday, per the NHL media site.
Impact Blankenburg had an assist in his lone game with the Monsters, after he was sent down Sunday. Blankenburg had 11 hits and 12 blocked shots in six games at the NHL level this season. He will replace Adam Boqvist (upper body) on the roster.

Impact Gudbranson got on the scoresheet against his old team with the secondary helper on Alexandre Texier's second-period marker. This was was Gudbranson's second assist over nine games in January. The big defenseman has 14 points through 43 outings, which is already better than the 13 points he had in 70 contests a year ago. He's added 45 shots on net, 39 hits, 108 blocked shots, 51 PIM and a minus-15 rating in 2023-24.

Impact Sillinger led the Blue Jackets' forwards with 18:52 of ice time in this contest. The 20-year-old center helped out on a Yegor Chinakhov tally in the first period. Sillinger has five points over nine outings in January, providing solid offense generally but not enough to match his current top-line role. He's at 19 points, 83 shots on net, 47 hits, 46 blocked shots, 28 PIM and an even plus-minus rating through 42 appearances this season.

Alexandre Texier - Nets shortie in win Texier scored a shorthanded goal, blocked three shots and went plus-2 in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Flames.
Impact Texier's second-period tally ended up being the game-winner, his first such goal since the 2019-20 campaign. The 24-year-old forward entered Thursday on a nine-game point drought before his big goal. Texier is at seven tallies, 14 points, 60 shots on net, 22 PIM and a minus-9 rating through 45 appearances, primarily filling a bottom-six role.

Impact Voronkov cashed in on a major power play after Jonathan Huberdeau got the gate for boarding Jack Roslovic in the third period. Impact Severson snapped his six-game point drought when he picked off a Jacob Markstrom rim-around and flung it into the net before the Flames' goalie could get back in position. In the third period, Severson also helped out on a Dmitri Voronkov tally. The 29-year-old Severson is up to 14 points, 38 shots on net, 52 blocked shots, 24 PIM and a minus-4 rating through 32 outings with the Blue Jackets in his first year with the team. He'll need a strong and healthy second half to have a chance at his sixth 30-point campaign.

Impact Chinakhov opened the scoring 2:50 into the game and added the lone helper on Adam Fantilli's empty-netter in the third period. This was Chinakhov's first multi-point game since Dec. 19, though he's warmed up with four points over his last four outings while seeing top-line usage. Impact The Flames rallied from behind twice in the first period, but Tarasov shut the door over the final 40 minutes. He snapped his personal three-game losing streak with the victory, his third in his last nine outings. Tarasov improved to 3-4-2 with a 3.86 GAA and an .881 save percentage through nine appearances this season. With Elvis Merzlikins struggling and Spencer Martin now in Carolina, Tarasov could have a chance to establish himself as the Blue Jackets' top goalie. Tarasov and Merzlikins will likely split the next two games, which see Columbus' road trip continue in Vancouver on Saturday and in Seattle on Sunday.
