Impact Jenner missed 15 games after fracturing his jaw Dec. 8 versus St. Louis. Jenner is second on the Blue Jackets with 13 goals, trailing only Kirill Marchenko by one marker, despite missing the last six weeks. Jenner will center the second line with Adam Fantilli and Jack Roslovic in Friday's game versus New Jersey, and should return to play on the first power-play unit with Cole Sillinger losing his man-advantage time.

Impact Jiricek's demotion will allow the team to activate Boone Jenner (jaw) off injured reserve ahead of Friday's matchup with the Devils. The 20-year-old Jiricek may not have to wait long in the minors, as the Jackets put Spencer Martin on waivers Thursday and could bring back Jiricek shortly to provide some extra defensive depth.

Impact Laine is about five weeks into his recovery after initially being given a six-week timeline to return. While he's making progress, it sounds like he could be out for a bit longer than expected. The 25-year-old had nine points and a minus-10 rating through 18 games prior to the injury.

Elvis Merzlikins - Expected starter for Friday Merzlikins is expected to start in Friday's home game against New Jersey, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports Wednesday.

Impact Merzlikins saved 27 of 30 shots en route to a 4-3 shootout win over Vancouver on Monday. He has an 8-8-6 record, 3.22 GAA and .906 save percentage in 24 outings in 2023-24. The Devils rank seventh offensively this year with 3.46 goals per game, so this will be a challenging matchup for Merzlikins.

Impact Voronkov ended up with a plus-1 rating, a game-high nine shots on goal, two blocked shots and a hit in 15:28 of ice time while winning three of his seven faceoff attempts. It was his first two-goal game in the NHL, and he snapped a four-game scoreless drought and six-game goal drought in the process. His time was the highest since Dec. 21. Despite the big game, Voronkov is still best limited to deeper fantasy pools.
