Elvis Merzlikins - Guarding goal Monday Merzlikins will protect the home goal against Vancouver on Monday, per Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site.
Impact Merzlikins will play for the first time since leaving a 6-5 overtime win over Toronto on Dec. 29 after the first period due to an illness. He has been a healthy scratch or the backup goalie in the team's past five contests. Through 23 games played this season, he has posted a 7-8-6 record with a 3.25 GAA and a .907 save percentage. The Canucks rank first in the league this campaign with 3.84 goals per contest.

Sean Kuraly - Set to return Monday Kuraly (ribs) is expected to return to the Columbus lineup Monday against the Canucks, Jeff Svoboda of the Blue Jackets' official site reports.
Impact Kuraly has missed eight games while recovering from fractures in his rib cartilage. The 30-year-old center had six goals and 11 points through 35 games with the Blue Jackets while adding 74 hits. Kuraly will likely return to a bottom-six role.

Impact Provorov gave the Jackets a 1-0 lead early in the first period, ending a 19-game goal drought (Nov. 27). And he pushed his team up 2-1 at 12:10 of the same frame with a shot from near the blue line that ricocheted off a Seattle player and into the net. Provorov has found it hard to score in Ohio - the goals Saturday doubled his season total to four. But he's actually on a 44-point pace, which would be a career high. Provorov might have some sleepy value, especially if this game is the start of a warming trend.

Kirill Marchenko - First goal in 10 games Marchenko scored a goal and added an assist Saturday in a 7-4 loss to Seattle.
Impact He wired a slap shot past Joey Daccord early in the second period. It was his 14th snipe of the season, but first in his last 10 games (one assist). Marchenko burst on the Columbus scene last year with 21 goals in just 59 games, but his minus-23 required an antacid. He's made improvements in his two-way play (plus-5 in 41 games). But Marchenko needs to be a bit more consistent in his offense to offer fantasy managers value in any league other than the deepest single-year formats.

Impact He's stepping into the starting role with a bit of a thud. Elvis Merzlikins has requested a trade, but that could take time - he wants to start, not backup, so the number of potential suitors is small. Tarasov is talented, but the Jackets are struggling. He's seen 35 or more shots in four of his last five starts, dating back to Dec. 30. Tarasov is definitely a dynasty guy, but he faces way too much rubber behind a porous team to be a safe play in single-year leagues.
