Impact The Blue Jackets had no business winning other than Tarasov's play in net - he was flat out brilliant. The netminder allowed 13 goals in his first three games this season, but he's stopped 78-of-83 shots in his last two games. Tarasov is big and athletic, and he has the kind of skill that you see in strong netminders. Short-term, consider him in matchups, but nothing more. The Blue Jackets need to improve their overall team play before Tarasov will ever be able to grow into that potential.

Impact Provorov didn't practice Wednesday due to the illness, but he didn't end up missing any playing time. That's great news for Columbus given how important the 26-year-old defenseman is to its blue line. Provorov has two goals, 21 points, 29 hits and 75 blocks in 39 outings while serving on the top pairing and first power-play unit.

Impact Chinakhov was a game-time decision, but he was able to take warmups. The 22-year-old will remain in his usual second-line role. He's slowed down lately but still has seven goals and five assists over his last 11 contests.

Ivan Provorov - Game-time decision Thursday Provorov will be a game-time decision Thursday after missing practice Wednesday with an illness, according to Adam Kimelman of NHL.com.
Impact Provorov has two goals and 21 points in 39 games as he has taken over quarterbacking the first power play in the absence of Zach Werenski (ankle). Provorov has six assists with the man-advantage. Should he be unable to go, Andrew Peeke would enter the lineup in his place.

Impact Chinakov was unable to practice Wednesday and is now a doubt heading into the clash with Philadelphia. The 22-year-old winger has racked up 12 points in his last 11 contests, though he has zero goals on just shots in his previous three outings. If Chinakhov does miss out, Kent Johnson could move into a top-six role while Brendan Gaunce joins the fourth line.

Impact Boqvist had been skating independently but seems to have taken the next step in his recovery. Barring any setbacks, the 23-year-old blueliner could return to the lineup against either Philadelphia or Minnesota on Thursday or Saturday, respectively. Whenever he does return, it will likely mean Jake Christiansen gets sent back to the minors.

Kent Johnson - Scoring surge continues Johnson scored his sixth goal of the season in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Bruins.
Impact The young sniper supplied Columbus' only offense on the night, beating Linus Ullmark just under his glove on a wicked shot from the slot early in the second period. Johnson has come on strong since being called back up from AHL Cleveland at the start of December, and over the last 12 games he's delivered five goals and 10 points.

Spencer Martin - Bounced by Boston Martin stopped 23 shots in Tuesday's 4-1 loss to the Bruins.
Impact He held Boston off the board in the first period, but Martin got caught by surprise on a Kevin Shattenkirk shot from distance early in the second period, and the Bruins never looked back. It was Martin's first start in almost a month, although he did notch a relief win last Friday, and he's fallen to third on the Blue Jackets' depth chart since Daniil Tarasov (illness) rejoined the NHL roster.
