Spencer Martin - In goal Thursday Martin will get the starting nod on the road against the Islanders on Thursday, Brian Hedger of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Impact Martin has managed just one win in his last seven contests, posting a 1-5-1 record, 3.26 GAA and .898 save percentage. With the Blue Jackets heading into a back-to-back and Elvis Merzlikins (illness) unavailable, Jet Greaves figures to play versus the Blues on Friday. Once Merzlikins is back, Martin figures to resume his duties as the No. 2 option for Columbus.

Erik Gudbranson - Still under the weather Gudbranson (illness) did not travel to New York and will miss Thursday's clash with the Islanders, Brian Hedger of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Impact Gudbranson will be shelved for the second consecutive contest due to his illness. The blueliner is pointless in his last five games while registering seven shots, 11 blocks and six hits. The Ottawa native has never reached the 20-point threshold in his NHL career but could get there this year considering he is already at nine points through 26 contests.

Patrik Laine - Out of action Thursday Laine (illness) did not accompany the team to New York and will miss Thursday's tilt versus the Islanders, Brian Hedger of The Columbus Dispatch reports.
Impact Laine also sat out Tuesday's game at home versus LA. Laine has struggled this season, as he has only five goals and seven points in 16 games. He was a healthy scratch Nov. 19 as head coach Pascal Vincent was not pleased with his game. The Blue Jackets return home Friday to take on the Blues and Laine's status is questionable at this time.

Jet Greaves - Summoned from minors Greaves was summoned from AHL Cleveland on Wednesday.
Impact Greaves has a 3.09 GAA and an .899 save percentage in 12 appearances with Cleveland this season. The 22-year-old hasn't played with Columbus in 2023-24, but that might change soon. Elvis Merzlikins (illness) was put on injured reserve Wednesday, which leaves Greaves and Spencer Martin as the Blue Jackets' healthy goaltending options ahead of a road game against the Islanders on Thursday and a home contest versus the Blues on Friday. It wouldn't be surprising to see Greaves and Martin each start in one of those two games.

Elvis Merzlikins - Dealing with illness Merzlikins has been placed on injured reserve and is expected to miss a week of action due to an illness.
Impact With Merzlikins sidelined, look for Spencer Martin to jump into the No.1 role for the Blue Jackets. Merzlikins, who's gone 6-8-4 while posting a 3.10 GAA and .910 save percentage through 19 games this season, will be eligible to return Dec. 14 against the Maple Leafs.

Emil Bemstrom - Up from AHL Bemstrom was called up by Columbus on Wednesday.
Impact Bemstrom has 10 goals and 14 points in eight contests with AHL Cleveland this season. He's also recorded three markers and four points in 12 appearances with Columbus. Cole Sillinger (upper body) was placed on the injured reserve list in a corresponding move. Between Sillinger's injury and Eric Robinson being traded from the Blue Jackets to Buffalo on Wednesday, Bemstrom will likely draw into the lineup Thursday versus the Islanders.

Impact Sillinger has a goal and nine points in 24 contests in 2023-24. He hasn't played since last Wednesday, so this move is presumably retroactive to that date. If that's the case, then Sillinger can be activated whenever he's healthy, though Columbus probably wouldn't have made this move unless the 20-year-old was expected to at least miss one more game, which would be Thursday's contest against the Islanders. Emil Bemstrom, who was summoned from AHL Cleveland in a corresponding move, might play Thursday.

Adam Boqvist - Out four weeks with shoulder strain Boqvist is expected to miss four weeks with a shoulder strain and was consequently put on injured reserve Wednesday.
Impact Boqvist has three assists, seven hits and 17 blocks in 13 games with the Blue Jackets this season. Blankenburg, who was called up from AHL Cleveland, will likely play regularly during Boqvist's absence.

Impact He had a hand in a Kirill Marchenko tally in the first period before scoring his own goal in the second -- Gaudreau found a loose puck in the neutral zone as the Kings pressed the attack, giving him a breakaway that he converted by going top shelf over Pheonix Copley's glove. Elvis Merzlikins - Late collapse in OT loss Merzlikins stopped 35 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Kings.
Impact It's been a pattern this season for Columbus to crack in the third period while trying to hold a lead, and Tuesday's game was no exception -- Merzlikins actually had a shutout going after 40 minutes, but the Blue Jackets got out-shot 15-7 in the third while giving up three straight goals. The netminder then couldn't get a glove on a Drew Doughty blast from the faceoff circle just 33 seconds into OT. Merzlikins has a .918 save percentage over his last 10 starts, but it's resulted in just a 3-5-2 record and 3.01 GAA as he's faced a whopping 36.7 shots a game during that stretch.
