Impact Facing the team that drafted him 30th overall in 2016, Steel was able to pick up his first point as a Star. The 25-year-old forward will likely never live up to that draft slot, but he's in contention for a fourth-line role with Dallas. Through two contests, he's posted two shots on goal, two blocked shots, a hit and a minus-1 rating. Ty Dellandrea and Craig Smith join Steel in contention for the last two winger spots in the lineup.

Impact Seguin has a helper in each of the last two games, accounting for all of his offense through three contests. He started the year on the top line, but the return of Roope Hintz has left Seguin in a middle-six role. The Stars' offense is deep and relatively balanced, so Seguin should still get enough ice time in the offensive zone to make an impact. He's collected six shots on goal, two hits and two PIM to go with his pair of assists.

Impact Robertson helped out on a Joe Pavelski goal in the second period. In the third, Robertson briefly left the game, but he was able to return. The 24-year-old winger has had a sluggish start to the year, posting just one assist with six shots on net, two hits and two PIM over three contests. Considering he had 46 goals, 109 points and 313 shots last season, he should be able to turn it around once he gets his shot volume up.

Impact Oettinger was starting in his third consecutive game to open the season and has stopped 82 of 87 shots over that span. He'll have some cold stretches during the campaign, but he's likely to average out to be one of the league's top goaltenders. Oettinger was dominant in 2022-23 with a 37-11-11 record, 2.37 GAA and .919 save percentage in 62 appearances.
