Impact Wedgewood has an 11-3-2 record, 3.01 GAA and .900 save percentage in 16 outings this season. He struggled in his last start, allowing four goals on 18 shots in a 4-3 loss to Montreal on Tuesday. It will be difficult for him to rebound against the Avalanche, who ranks second offensively this year with 3.63 goals per game.

Closing in on return Oettinger's (lower body) timetable has been upgraded from "week-to-week" to "day-to-day," coach Peter DeBoer told Saad Yousuf of The Athletic on Wednesday.
Impact Oettinger participated in Wednesday's optional skate. The 25-year-old goaltender hasn't played since Dec. 15, but it sounds like it won't be long before he makes his return. When Oettinger is available, Scott Wedgewood will slide back into the No. 2 role while Matt Murray will return to AHL Texas.

Logs assist Tuesday Dadonov managed an assist and three shots on goal in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Canadiens.
Impact Dadonov continues to pepper points across his ledger -- he's gotten on the scoresheet in six of the last nine games. The winger is up to eight goals, eight helpers, 49 shots on net and a minus-8 rating through 34 outings. Dadonov remains in a third-line role, but his more consistent play of late has reduced the threat of him being a healthy scratch again any time soon.

Impact Duchene set up Jason Robertson's goal in the third period. This was Duchene's third helper over the last two games as he bounces back from a stretch of three contests without a point. The center is up to 32 points, 80 shots on net, 24 blocked shots and a plus-13 rating through 35 outings overall in a second-line role.

Impact Robertson's tally late in the third period got the Stars within a goal, but they didn't tie the game. He extended his point streak to seven games (three goals, seven assists). The winger had produced just one streak of five games or longer prior to this run. He's up to 12 tallies, 37 points, 103 shots on net and a plus-4 rating over 36 appearances this season.

The veteran forward is at seven goals, 24 points, 61 shots on net, 32 hits, 25 PIM and a plus-4 rating over 36 outings in a middle-six role this season.

Impact Both helpers came late in the third period as Dallas attempted to rally from a 4-1 deficit. Marchment has erupted for six points over his last two games, but that matches his total from the prior 12 contests combined. The surge has the 28-year-old on track for a career-best campaign with 13 goals and 27 points in 36 games.

Breaks slump with two-point night Johnston delivered a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Canadiens.
Impact It's the 20-year-old center's first tally, and first multi-point performance, since he potted two goals against Calgary on Nov. 24. Since then, Johnston had managed only five helpers in his prior 16 games before Tuesday's outburst. He's still a big part of Dallas' future though, and the 2021 first-round pick is on pace for his first 50-point campaign with 23 points (10 goals, 13 assists) through 36 contests.

Stumbles in Montreal Wedgewood turned aside 14 shots in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Canadiens.
Impact Dallas out-shot Montreal 33-18 on the night, but the Habs had plenty of good scoring chances that Wedgewood wasn't able to deny. The 31-year-old netminder has made nine straight starts with Jake Oettinger (lower body) sidelined, producing a lackluster 2.81 GAA and .896 save percentage but going 6-2-1 thanks to the Stars' offense.
