Jaccob Slavin - Two helpers in Thursday's winSlavin collected two assists in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Panthers.
ImpactThe 29-year-old blueliner helped set up a Seth Jarvis tally late in the first period that proved to be the game-winner, before getting credited with an assist on Andrei Svechnikov's fluky empty-netter in the third. Slavin was ice cold coming out of the All-Star break, managing only three assists in 15 games, but he's now matched that output over the last three contests. He hasn't found the back of the net since Christmas, however, with his goal drought now standing at 32 games.

Jake Guentzel - Notches first Carolina pointGuentzel recorded an assist along with three shots on net, three hits, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Panthers.
ImpactHe helped set up a Martin Necas tally early in the second period, giving Guentzel his first point as a member of the Hurricanes in his second contest for the club. The 29-year-old winger has slotted right into a key role for his new team since being acquired from the Penguins and coming off IR, skating at even strength on a line with Necas and fellow newcomer Evgeny Kuznetsov while seeing shifts on the second power-play unit. That's still a downgrade from having Sidney Crosby as your center though, so Guentzel could have a hard time maintaining the usual point-a-game pace he posted in Pittsburgh.

Evgeny Kuznetsov - Pots first goal with new teamKuznetsov scored his seventh goal of the season in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Panthers.
ImpactThe long-time Capital picked up his first goal, and first point, as a member of the Hurricanes midway through the second period, getting the puck with tons of open space around him before picking his spot against Sergei Bobrovsky. Kuznetsov has been centering a talented line with Martin Necas and fellow newcomer Jake Guentzel at even strength while skating on Carolina's first power-play unit, so points could begin to come in bunches for the 31-year-old now that he's beginning to get comfortable in his new surroundings.
