Alex Laferriere - Dealing with upper-body injury Laferriere has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Canucks due to an upper-body injury, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.

Impact Laferriere didn't participate in Wednesday's practice session, and he'll be forced to miss at least one game due to his injury. Whether he'll be able to return Saturday against Seattle remains to be seen, but Samuel Helenius is a candidate to enter the lineup Thursday after he was recalled Wednesday.

Akil Thomas - Not seeing playing time Thomas was scratched for the sixth straight game in Monday's 1-0 loss to the Oilers.

Impact Thomas played in six straight games from Dec. 14-28, but he's since been stuck in the press box. That could be his future for a while longer, as Samuel Helenius was sent down, leaving Thomas as the only spare forward on the Kings' roster. The team's steady usage of 11 forwards and seven defensemen doesn't leave an opening for Thomas, but if they go back to 12 forwards and six blueliners, Thomas would be in line to play. He has three points, 18 shots on net, 24 hits and a minus-1 rating over 16 appearances.

Samuel Helenius - Sent down to minors Helenius was reassigned to AHL Ontario on Tuesday.

Impact Helenius has been a healthy scratch for his last four NHL games, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to see him heading down to the minors to get some game action. The 22-year-old center could still be brought up ahead of Thursday's matchup with Vancouver -- though he likely will be hard-pressed to break into the lineup even if he is on the roster.

Darcy Kuemper - No margin for error in Edmonton Kuemper stopped 29 shots in Monday's 1-0 loss to the Oilers.

Impact The veteran netminder was nearly perfect, but nearly wasn't good enough on a night when the Kings couldn't solve Stuart Skinner. The lone goal Kuemper allowed came late in the second period -- after denying Darnell Nurse from in close while the teams were skating 4-on-4, the rebound went straight to Connor McDavid, who made no mistake. It was Kuemper's first regulation loss since returning in early December from an undisclosed injury, and over his last 11 appearances he's gone 8-1-2 with a dazzling 1.63 GAA and .940 save percentage.

Impact Calgary got a little scrambled after a couple of failed clearing attempts. The second of those mistakes ended up on Moverare's stick, and he made no mistake on his lone shot of the game, putting the Kings ahead 1-0 at 6:19 of the first period. The defenseman has four points over his last five contests, giving him five points, 17 shots on net, 21 hits, 28 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating through 22 outings this season. He's in no immediate danger of losing his place in the lineup, but his recent scoring success is unlikely to last.
