Impact Monahan and Brendan Gallagher dug a loose puck out of the corner, leading to Justin Barron's marker three minutes into the first period. Monahan's third line has been effective since a rough Opening Night. It accounted for two of Montreal's goals Monday and in Saturday's win over the Capitals. David Savard - Sacrifices body in Monday's victory Savard posted an assist with five blocked shots in Monday's 3-1 win over the Sabres.
Impact Savard ended up with a plus-1 rating and one shot on goal, but the big news was his game-high five blocked shots. In fact, the rest of his team combined had 12 total blocks, so the rearguard was really out there sacrificing for his team. The Canadiens are back on the ice at Bell Centre on Tuesday against the Devils.

Impact Barron, filling in for the injured Kaiden Guhle (upper body) for the second straight game, paid instant dividends. He scored just 2:56 into the game to get the visitors off on the right foot, with helpers from Arber Xhekaj and Sean Monahan. Barron added a plus-1 rating, two blocked shots and a minor penalty. Impact Gallagher posted his second goal of the season at 3:31 of the third period, putting Montreal ahead for good, so he is credited with the game-winning goal. He also chipped in with the primary helper on Tanner Pearson's power-play goal late in the third to put a bow on the scoring. The Canadiens are back at it on home ice Tuesday night against the Devils.

Jake Allen - Makes 36 saves in road victory Allen allowed just one goal on 37 shots in a 3-1 road victory against the Sabres on Monday.
Impact Allen stood on his head in the road win, allowing just a single power-play goal early in the first period. For the final 52-plus minutes, he was an impenetrable wall for the Habs. He has won back-to-back starts after a wild 6-5 shootout road loss against the Maple Leafs to start the season.
