Sam Montembeault - Set to start Tuesday Montembeault is slated to start Tuesday's home game against the Rangers, Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports reports.
Impact Montembeault has started in four of Montreal's first six games of the season, and he'll attempt to bounce back Tuesday after taking losses in his last two outings. Despite his recent losses, he's had a solid start to the 2024-25 season, logging a 2-2-0 record, 2.30 GAA and .932 save percentage.

Juraj Slafkovsky - Status uncertain for Tuesday Head coach Martin St. Louis said Monday that Slafkovsky's (shoulder) status for Tuesday's game against the Rangers is uncertain, Eric Engels of Sportsnet reports.
Impact Slafkovsky sustained a shoulder injury during Friday's practice session but was able to suit up for Saturday's game against the Islanders. He was effective, tallying two assists in the shootout loss, but it's not yet clear whether he'll be able to dress for Tuesday's home game.

Mike Matheson - No worse for wear Matheson logged a power-play assist, five blocked shots and two hits in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Islanders.
Impact Matheson left Thursday's game versus the Kings due to an upper-body injury, but he didn't miss action. He led the Canadiens with 28:10 of ice time Saturday, proving he's no worse for wear after the injury scare. The 30-year-old blueliner has chipped in four assists, seven shots on net, 17 blocked shots and a minus-2 rating over six contests while serving as the Canadiens' top overall defenseman.

Jake Evans - Sets up goal in loss Evans had an assist, three shots, a blocked shot and one hit in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Islanders.
Impact Evans got control of a missed shot by Josh Anderson and setup Logan Mailloux for Montreal's second goal. It was the second assist in six games for Evans, who is centering the third line between Josh Anderson and Brendan Gallagher.

Impact Anderson's bid on a rush went wide of the net, but Jake Evans corralled the rebound and set up rookie Logan Mailloux for a goal that tied the game, 2-2, early in the second period. The assist was his second point of the season. He's filling a wing on the third line, but unlike previous campaigns in Montreal, Anderson is not a regular on the power play. Through six outings, the forward has been on ice for just 38 seconds when Montreal has a man advantage.

Logan Mailloux - Scores first NHL goal Mailloux scored a goal on his lone shot attempt in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Islanders. He also recorded one blocked shot, two hits and two PIM.
Impact Mailloux was called up from AHL Laval and took the place of Kaiden Guhle (upper body). Mailloux lined up with fellow rookie Lane Hutson on the second pair and was given 18 shifts and 19:03 of ice time. He's made two appearances at the NHL level, including a game at the end of last season, and has points in each.

Impact The 23-year-old winger earned the Canadiens a point with his tying tally late in the third period, but Caufield couldn't solve Semyon Varlamov in the shootout. Caufield is off to a blistering start this season. racking up six goals and seven points in six games, and he seems headed for a breakout after posting a career-high 28 goals and 65 points in 2023-24.

Cayden Primeau - Finally falls in shootout Saturday Primeau turned aside 33 shots in regulation and overtime and six of nine shootout attempts in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Islanders.
Impact The 25-year-old was the busier of the two goalies on the night, but Primeau couldn't handle Noah Dobson's shot in the ninth round of the shootout as the Habs fell short. It was a much better showing than Primeau managed in his first start of the season, but his .862 save percentage still has him firmly behind Sam Montembeault on the Montreal depth chart.
